Super High Vision - The New HD
Here is a working demo of the technology that hopes to replace bog standard HD TVs.

It will probably be about 2020 before it hits shops.
Have large TV's like this not been used already for special events? |

Super Hi Vision has a resolution of 7,680 × 4,320 pixels is four times as wide and four times as high (for a total of 16 times the pixel resolution) as existing HDTV. They hope Super Hi Vision broadcasts will commence in 2015.

Great if you want an entire wall of your living room to be used as a TV, pretty much useless for the average consumer though.

By 2020 , virgin might just have more than 1 part-time HD Channel, and i might just be still alive.
