Using mixes in a bread maker

Hi, can anyone who uses a bread maker help?

I lost the manual for my bread maker but used it recently by just following the instructions on the label with regard to water to be added. The loaf came out smaller and quite compact.

I am almost sure that the instructions on the mix for using a bread maker are slightly different to making bread by hand but I can't remember the differences.

If anyone has a Morphy Richards 48260 model would they please check the instructions for using mixes in a bread maker and post them here. I'd really, really appreciate that.

Thanks
JJ

I'm not quite sure what you mean - what sort of mix, one of those pre-packed ones or one from the back of a flour pack?

Anyhoo no matter, I have the 48261 with manual intact (albeit a bit grubby - it's used lots!) so I can check any details you like, I could even photograph the relevant pages if you want so you have a copy?

Ps. Welcome to the forum

Hi Specktater, thanks for the welcome.

I used a bread mix from Wrights and on it, it mentioned that I should check my bread maker instructions if using the mix in a bread maker. I seem to recall that I was supposed to do something else other than just add the water, that's why I think it was a very compact loaf when baked.

I really appreciate your offer of copies of the relevant pages. If it's no trouble, then thank you so much.

Hmm, from memory (it's admittedly been a while since I've used a mix) all you need is the water, but it must be the right temp and I do seem to remember it says something about putting it in the machine in the order specified by your manual (water first, then the mix).

No worries on the manual anyway - I'll snap the pages later today and PM you with the links

Edited to add: I see Fizzbin has posted a nice shiny copy of the manual - I take it that's sufficient, or do you still want/need the photos?

Hi both,

Thanks for the response and for the link to the nice shiney manual Fizzbin, much appreciated.

I'll let you know how I get on.

I probably will go to recipies rather than mixes...I thought the mix would be easy but it's not proving so...

Thanks again
JJ
