Buying tvs/dvd players from Ireland
Is there any way to buy home entertainment equipment in Ireland online? There seems to be no companies willing to do so - only selling to the UK. The retail prices are prohibitively expensive here. I know there's eBay but I'm reluctant to spend a lot of money on a single purchase there ...

There are two reasons why it's more expensive - firstly the Euro to Sterling exchange rate - as the products sold in Eire are usually virtually "UK Spec" though with additional tuners on TV for the VHF services.
And secondly, Eire used to have VAT at 21% rather than 17% of the UK - don't know if that's still true. If it is, you may find a 'shopping trip' to the North is your best bet. |
