Got my new Thomson 500gb from Tesco Direct.Removed my 250Gb to another room and set it up and would you believe it there is a problem scanning channels in. I Get BBC1,BBC2,Three,CBBC,CBeebies and The Red Button (TTXT) and that is it. Contacted TUTV and said there is a problem and to force a download did that last night and as of 8am Thurs NOTHING.Any advice?????????????? Have no probs with aerial (NEW) and the 250gb sets up no problem.

Try the 500GB on where you have moved the 250 GB on to.
If it works there it as got to be a problem somewhere between the aerial and the socket.

Done it already and does not work. If i rescan 250gb box that is fine and I get all channels from both aerial points but on the 500gb only 5 channels and comes up with " Sorry TUTV software cannot be downloaded" or words to that effect and tells me to phone helpline.Thanks anyway

If you have got a booster try that and the aerial cable from the old unit.
Apart from that, that's my technical limit on stuff like this.

What version software have you got?
Spoke to the Top up Tv regarding the fault with the THOMSON 500gb PVR. I was told by their fault department that there is a fault with the software for most of the new THOMSON 500gb PVR's and I was told to return the product for a full refund or go for the new Wharfedale Top up PVR which they said is the same product minus the software problem & the remote is the same as the Thomson too
Anyone else had probs like this?

The software version is 0.40 which I was told it is a wharfedale version (yet mine is THOMSON)and the software should be 2.99. So stay clear of THOMSON 500gb PVR until further notice

I Belive some one on the TUTV forums one is working fine?
Odd that TUTV said that as they have not had any yet and there as been hardly any released!

With the other guys working, I should imagine Thomson will love tutv.
I can't see the wrong software being ghosted as why would the other one guys work?
Most probably just a fault!
I would have thought we would have seen more people on here if this was a problem with every one.

Yes my thoughts exactly.Prior to tonights answer from the technical side I did get 3 different answers from each call I made about the problem from the call centre.

The current software version for the Wharfedale is 0.36 which is equivalent to v2.93 on the 1st gen Thomsons. Those Thomsons just got patched to v2.99 and an equivalent patch is due for the Wharfedale any day now.
The second gen Thomsons like you have, have their own versions of the software (as the Wharfedales do) not v2.99 which is for the 1st gen Thomsons only.
AFAIK all the software appears the same to us users, the different version numbering just reflects changes in the low level stuff to accommodate different hardware.
