The UK TV Food Thread
Not seen this mentioned here too much before, so i thought i'd start a thread to cover all aspects of their programming, how often you watch, your likes and dislikes - anything to do with UKTV Food in fact.
So someone..... start the ball rolling.

I like Rick Stein, Nigella etc
I can't stand that Market Kitchen crap, that simpering Rachael woman (Irish I think), James Martin, Two Hairy Bikers. I'll even watch that Barefoot Contessa just to see her guilt tripping at making everything with about 15,000 calories. |

I have it on in the background quite a bit. Ususlly that or Sky Sports News.
One of the biggest problems I have is the repetition of programs - Not daily repeats that's fair enough, but the same series on again and again - and the weekenders they have with one series or chef. |

I hate Market Kitchen. The way they tell you where to buy your ingridients from, fish from your fishmongers, olivers from your deli. Please. I love The Barefoot Contessa, except when she slobbers all over her husband.

Just been watching Rick Stein's French Odyssey.
Stunning is all I can think of - the places he travels through are breathtaking. The food is extremely simple and looks amazing. I feel really guilty now for not putting more effort into what can be done with really simple food. Time for one of his books I think. |

Yes, the fabulous Jenni - She talks so fast but is very entertaining!
![]() She used to do the Sunday food show but got promoted to the weekday slot but usually manages to get food in there somewhere. Wouldn't be without her

I was never really a fan of Jenni Barnett. I could have happily watched GFL without her.
Market Kitchen hasn't has much luck with it's presenters. Tana Ramsay!!! Rachel Allen was on last week and I lost count of the times she said "yam" (yum in a strong Irish accent). I don't mind Amanda Lamb. She's bubbly, funny and unpretensious. |

Looked like my kind of place. |

I watch some TV food - but used to watch a lot more when Jenni Barnett was on - she was such fun! She got the best out of the chefs as well, I think.
I agree with everybody here about Market Kitchen - really awful. Some of the guest chefs are OK and do try to show some good recipes, but mainly it seems to be about the presenters. I don't think I have ever watched an entire episode. A lot of you don't like James Martin - and he does seem to be a bit ubiquitous at the moment, but I like the Kitchen Garden bit because I grow all my own veg - and I can sympathise with him when things go wrong. I would not mind seeing more of Nigel Slater. |

![]() ![]() If there is ever a new series, there are a couple of things she ought to know..... A). There are only so many times you can say 'This is gonna be SO good' or 'How bad can that be' without it getting on your t*ts. ![]() B). Lose the nervous sniggering when the guests pitch up.... you're not cut out to do stand-up comedy ![]() C). Why does Geoffrey only ever come home on the weekends??

I suppose you can't blame the guy for work ethic and I guess you need to give a bit of leeway on his presenting. He's not great on Saturday Kitchen. He flicked a tomato onto Ken Hom last week because he was trying to be cool & funny. He'd be better off presenting if someone tied his arms behind his back ![]() Re: Nigel Slater He has Clarksons disease. He seems to start a sentence and then............................... .............................. ................... for no apparent reason.................................... ........................................................................................ stop talking............................................ ................................................... then finish his sentence |
