Please help- Samsung Blu Ray player!
Hi, I am looking for some advice please - I recently bought a Samsung Blu Ray BD-P1400 http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...d=SAMS-BDP1400
However being daft about these things I didn't realise that it didn't come with speakers (I had previously had a Panasonic home cinema system that had the dvd player/speakers etc all connected) I was wondering if it would be possible to just buy some surround sound speakers and connect them up as the sound through my Samsung tv is not great. I would want the sound to come through the speakers when I am watching Sky as well as my blu ray player. I'm not very technical so any advice would be much appreciated as to how I would do this!! Thanks

You need an AV amp and speakers, or a Home Cinema System (without DVD player). An AV amp and separate speakers will sound better, but will cost more.
Many of the cheaper "Home Cinema in a Box" systems don't have the right inputs to allow you to connect your Blu-Ray player and get 5.1 sound. Some just have one input, so you won't be able to connect Sky as well. If money is a bit tight, you can always connect a normal stereo system - no surround, but better than the TV or a cheapo HCS. Your best bet is to go back to Richer Sounds and ask for advice. Expect to pay £300+ for something half-decent. |

Yes i agree about Richersounds, I bought a Yamaha 7:1 amplifier from there last November for a bargain £250 and its very good for a medium sized room. Word of warning though, the wiring can be a problem, I tuck mine under the carpet, or most of it anyway since I have 10 speakers connected.
Hope you find what you are looking for. By the way, I recommend Onkyo, Yamaha, or Denon. |
