It is so intense you are exactly right, I have given Mr 3 Secs loads of hugs today, he was in a terrible state because he had to dig the grave and get her out of the bag, he was heartbroken

Awww, bless him, and you. Why not get a plant or rose bush to go where you've buried her. That way, each time the flowers bloom, she'll be bringing a smile to your face once more.

I know how it feels to lose the family pet. We had a dog since i was 3 and im 24 now and in 2005 he had to be put down because of bad illnesses and old age. That took some time for me to take in and if someone said to me "it's only a dog" i would have quite literally flipped and beat their ass. I'd have said something like how would you like it if your pet, let alone childhood pet had to be put to sleep or died and someone said that to you? At that time i was in no mood to be messed with and someone sayin that to me would have sent me over the edge. Cant really blame someone for flipping if their pet has just died or a family member and someone takes it too far and has to make some nasty comment, can you?

Not one bit! When I go to work on Wednesday if the boss is still being an insensitive arsehole, then I will definately be saying, she can stick her job up her backside and her Christianity too!

Yes we're going to plant an evergreen that is alive all the time and flowers once a year to remind us

We'll do that definately in a week or so, which then will make us snile about our sweetheart again. Thank you for that!

Its a combination of pain, anger and upset... The 3 of which do not go together and it can usually end up messy!

I'm so sorry about your cat. I wish I could do something . Idiot driver should be taken off the road.

May I ask how old your cat was?

You are all so lovely on here. Thank you so much, your words they mean so much to me and comfort me.

My boss was very angry when I didn't go to work this afternoon...'it's only a cat'... a person who believes she is a born again Christian. Also my son dislocated his shoulder and I couldn't go to work on one day in the week because I was at the hospital with him...she was cross about this too.

If that's being a Christian, then I don't want to be one.

We miss our cat so much, when my Dad died at an early age and I found him in the chair I was in bits and a complete mess, our sweetie dying now so suddenly, I think takes me back some years
Aww. {{hugs}}

And not all Christians are like that, like anything, just individuals.

It's horrid losing something suddenly. At least if it was sick you'd expect it to be happening.

I know how you are feeling, it's one of the most devastating things to deal with when you lose a much loved pet.

We lost a cat in the same way the day before new years eve last year, me and my children were all there when it happened, it seems he saw us coming down the road and crossed to meet us.....

Still makes me cry so much now, he was my 'little boy', which is why I just had to reply to this when I read it (don't post here much but read a lot!)

It does get better in time, as they say, time is a healer, people saying that to me at the time wasn't much help though. I'll never forget him and with time I have been able to remember all his funny and cheeky ways with a smile rather than with tears.

Hope that time will come for you soon, I hope i have helped in some way. Take care x

So sorry about your sad loss - I know how devastating it is to lose a treasured pet - I am still grieving over having to have my beloved ginger boy put to sleep in June - he was 18 and had kidney failure. I console myself that he had the most wonderful, happy carefree life and suffered no pain at the end. He is buried in his favourite place - under the shady ash tree in the garden where he used to love to lie. Time is a great healer - allow yourselves time to cry and grieve - and please ignore the sad people who say "it was only a cat". Pets are an integral part of ones family - they love you unconditionally and the grieving process is no different from losing a family member. RIP little one

So sorry to hear about your cat, this is the same way as we lost our black and white bunble of fluff Scamp earlier this year, I shed so many tears over her and I still can't look at the spot in the graden where we buried her without feeling sad.
Fortunately I had a very understanding boss, I went into work the following day and tried to pretend that nothing had happened but in the end I couldn't, I just burst into tears and got sent home.
The pain does get easier, but you never forget them.
Sending you and anyone else that has lost a pet in this or anyway a Hug.

Maybe move or have house-cats/ no cats?

I lost a cat a few weeks ago , Yes I was sad but nothing like the people in this thread . Do you not think you are over the top a little?

Not at all. I fully understand how they feel and my sympathies go out to the OP. The problem nowadays is that no matter where you live, no matter how small a road you live on, you get these gits with their loud exhausts causing a nuisance and driving too fast and they get away with it. If we did that the police would right onto us straight away - easy targets you see.

And I don't think people should have to have no cats just because other people are so damned thoughtless.
