Sorry about you losing your boy. In my family, all pets are considered part of the family. I can't understand how someone can live with and look after a pet, and not think the same.

Well if they do come back for some reason, just ignore them and let them be mean. They'll get less of a kick out of it if you just smile and continue living life your way, not hurting (or being mean to) anyone

For now, just look after yourselves and take your time. Maybe find a special photo and put it in a nice frame? That's what I did for my mum when our Tommy died. Night night, i'd better be off- maybe i'll post a bit more in threads like this and keep away from the shouty ones!

Seriously, it wasn't aimed at you! As much as I think you've been unsympathetic and inappropriate in this thread (OK, we've been through that!), I was actually thinking of other posters when I made that comment!

I still don't think that the post I quoted before was particularly sympathetic! To me, it sort of felt like when people say "No offence, but..." or "I'm not being funny, but..." Maybe it is just the way I read it.

Poor cat, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's horrible enough loosing a pet anyway, let alone because of some immature thug thinking he's big and clever by treating the roads like race track. May she RIP.

Although in MY OPINION she was spot on- it was needed. All because someone doesn't use a word like w@nker, doesn't mean their comment escapes being labelled 'rude' or uncalled for. Call it childish, call it whatever you like, but she's just saying how she feels in response to some peoples attitudes and the way they felt the need to impose them on a thread that never asked for it.

I'm not an animal lover, I admit it. I'm not heartless either. If someone loses something dear to them, although I may not see it entirely from their point of view, I sympathise.

My point throughout this thread has been that although the OP has lost her pet, she has introduced other 'factors' ( the boy racers, unsympathetic boss etc), more than once and it was those factors that I (and earlier, others), wanted to discuss. However, the OP appeared to want no other input into this thread but sympathy for her loss.

I don't believe I have been inappropriate.

If you actually bothered to read my post, you would see that comment was directed at the people who were comparing losing a pet to a loved one.

I'm really sorry that you lost your cat. I was devastated when I had to have my dog put to sleep, but as other have said too, it was nothing compared to losing a loved ones .
That comparison, I do find weird.

If being of the opinion that losing my dog, was easier than losing my dad makes me a w@nker then so be it. I can live with that, IMO its all about priorities.

They are both swearwords, which I understand to both be against the T&Cs, under the 'disrespect' rule, I assume.

The 'w' word wasn't directed towards anyone in particular, so was no worse than your own effort.


That wasn't really my point though, it was rather how one FM decided to side against one post with a bad word, yet not another, simply because one contained a view she agreed with.

If you take into consideration that this was originally posted in advice, rather than the new pet section then its going to attract people with ALL opinions.

Firstly, I apologise for using the 'w' word in an earlier post. It was posted without fully thinking through what I was writing.

I had read through the update on the thread since I had last posted, and was feeling quite upset and emotional. My comment wasn't aimed at one specific poster, but was prompted more by the turn the thread had taken, and how it seemed that 3 Second Memory was being slated for grieving for her cat. I know that I was wrong to post that comment, and I do apologise to those I have offended.

I really found it hard to believe (and still do) that, reading the title of the thread, anyone would find it necessary to post non-constructive comments, which they must have known could upset the OP, who was obviously upset at the time.

*Ugly_Betty", regarding my reference to trolls - from what I understand, on the forums, a troll is someone who posts purely to upset or annoy other posters. That is what I felt at the time after reading the thread. It is nothing to do with having different opinions, it is all to do with where those opinions are expressed.

Now that we have a pets forum, there is a thread called 'We don't like cats'. I have absolutely no problem with this (please don't misunderstand that sentence - you do know what I am trying to say!) I just feel that, if someone starts a thread asking for sympathy and understanding, then that is what should be posted there.

kizzie - Yes, my comment was directed at people who didn't agree with me about the appropriateness of their comments within this thread. I feel that it is all do to with consideration to others (yes, I know you can say that that's rich coming from me in light of my offensive post). Bendy Wendy and I 'debated' this earlier in the thread. I still think that those who wanted to debate boy racers, cat poo in gardens or how bonkers they think the contributors to this thread are, could have started a new thread out of consideration to 3SM, who was obviously upset and grieving at the time.

I do agree though that the OP didn't originally intend to stir up any debate, however by her referrals to ...(a).who/what ever killed her cat and (b) her boss's reaction (to name but two), she did introduce debate intentionally or otherwise.
