Anyone else still not like the Sunday show?

I still cannot warm to it. I know that it allows time for extra dances and the like, but how about they just switch over to SCD after Saturday's News, give the result in a 5 minut show and just have an interview with the eliminated couple with dances on Sunday?

Or am I the only one?

I'm in two minds.

On Saturday, after the main show, I feel really deflated. It's over and there's nothing to look forward to that eveing (Strictly is on so early). The result seems a long time away.

However, on Sunday, I perk up enormously at the thought of the results show. And I like the long format with extra pro dances.

I very carefully ignore the spoiler threads on this forum late on Saturday. I did start reading them last season, but found it ruined the Sunday show.

So, on balance, I think I like the Sunday show if I can get over the boredom of late Saturday tv and can avoid hearing the result.

At least with a Sunday results show Strictly is on every day in one form or another (including ITT) between 20th September and 20th December!

I for one enjoyed the spoiler threads last year. I started checking them after the first week. My daughter was so distraught when Karen and Brian were eliminated I wanted to be forewarned just in case her second favourite dancer was knocked out. Fortunately she switched allegiance to Alesha so she was quite happy with the result.....

I did enjoy the suspense of the final though when we found out the result live. In other words I'm in two minds about the Sunday result show.

I'm in two minds also. When they first moved the results to Sunday I was miffed but I guess I've got used to it. I did enjoy the whole big Saturday night thing.

I had no computer last year, knew nothing about forums and still have no idea what 'spoiler threads' are. Do you mean you all know the results on here before they are announced? Really? How? Or have I got that completely wrong?

Welcome to the forums.

A 'spoiler' thread is someone who posts news of an event before others get the chance to see it. It's a bit like the newspapers tell you what is going to happen in Corrie.

There is a thread running on here this week that says they are going to post the result tonight as they know someone who will be at BBC TV sat in the audience but as a rule we watch the results show not knowing who is out.

If you like to keep up with everything SCD I have my own thread on here http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=470973

It helps me as I work Saturday nights in a care home so I used to watch the main show and tape the results but I would sometimes know who was out before I watched it so with the Sunday show I watch it like everyone else.

When they first introduced the sunday show last series, i was dead set against it, but as the series went on i got used to it and now like it that wa. Even if i know the results beforehand by reading the spoiler thread, i can't help myself, i still watch it and like someone else said at least i can get my daily dose of strictly every day now.

I want to know the result as soon as possible after it's announced.

I would much prefer that to be live on TV....but if it has to be an audience member 'leak' via an internet forum, so be it.

The Sunday show is justified in all respects but of limited interest to me.

I watched it a couple of times last year but it was so padded and stretched out that I gave up and just came on here instead.

They've made it even longer this time, so I expect it'll be even worse this year. I'm not planning on watching.

I'm with the poster - who thinks a little announcement on a Saturday night - possibly done as a taster - ie and the person out of SCD tonight is .............. but still have the show on Sundays where the full result etc can be seen along with lots of pro dances - best of both worlds really

I really didn't like the Sunday show last year but am surprised to find that, this year, it doesn't bother me at all and I actually looked forward to watching it.

However - I wish they would stop "pretending" that they are actually recording it on the Sunday - frequently referring to "yesterday". They must know that everybody is well aware that it is not a "live" show so why not just drop the act.

I still hate it.
I went to the pix last night as I knew the result. I always check the spoilers and know the result by Sunday morning at the latest.
It's pathetic the way they pretend they actually got all the celebs to turn up 2 nights running and yet still dressed in the same outfits as the night before.
Pathetic!

The sunday show is great if you haven't read the spoiler. I had no idea Phill would go over Don.

I read the spoiler thread - have no self control, I am the sort of person who opens Christmas presents beforehand - but I did enjoy the Sunday show. Like many others, I objected to it last year but this year I am used to it and it does mean we get to see more dancing. Even if we know who is out (& we don't have to know), we still see the dance off.

They refer to it as 'yesterday' because it is being broadcast on Sunday and hence the audience saw the rest of the show the day before. Don't worry, they're not trying to fool anyone; they don't pretend it is live at all. Filming something to be shown 'as live' is hardly a new TV phenomenon. They don't try to keep it a secret that it's filmed Saturday.

They could say 'yesterday you saw' before everything if you want them to be completely correct but how ridiculously pendantic would that be?

Personally I thought Sunday's show was very good, full of decent content and it was good to have something else to watch on a Sunday evening rather than everything being on Saturday.

I quite like the sunday show, as long as I dont have to wait until sunday for the results. Long live the spoilers on a saturday night.

Its too long. Does anybody else think Bette Midler was uncomfortable?

As long as they don't pretend to say 'last night performance was (insert your words)' to try to pass off as a live show, I actually grew to like it.

But please, stop that stupid 'last night performance' stuff! At least Claudia said in her interview with Tess (she said something like 'tonight's performance').

Don't treat us like idiots, is all I ask of BBC now...

She was totally off in her singing. Worse than the x-factor auditionees!

They're not.

They're referring to 'last night's performances' because you are watching it on Sunday and hence the performances were last night.

At no point have they pretended it is live.

It's too long, far too much padding. I did watch it last night, but got a bit bored. I would rather have the result on Saturday really, but if it has to be Sunday then a shorter show would be better.

I don't like the sunday show it is so dragged out

I liked looking forward to it on saturday its just feels the bbc are trying to make more of the show then it should be.

Bette midler was a bit iffy

Then they shouldn't have said last night as it was recorded on Saturday night. They should just said (Len and I believe Bruce or Tess as well) pretended as if the show was live on Sunday by giving 'misleading' comments like 'last night'.

Do you get what I mean? It was recorded on Saturday night, we all know it. So quit saying 'last night' when logically they should've just said 'tonight's performance'.

But I am nitpicking here. I like it for the pro dances. But Bette Midler was a huge disappointment. She was worse than those x-factor wannabes in her singing. Yuk.

I kove Bette Midler, but I agree she didn't do that lovely song justice last night, maybe it had something to do with the backing music.
