Those who've won before will not be given an easy route to the final, though it will be difficult to judge the potential of all contestants.
The main objective is to beat the X-Factor in the "Saturday night ratings war." It's ratings that count, the BBC really doesn't care who wins, they just want you to keep watching, that's why it's more like a pantomime than a dance competition.
But it's what viewers enjoy. Best not to take it too seriously.
