Mark and Austin were far better than expected for Week 1.

The majority of the girls were far WORSE than expected!

My Surprises:-

Loved Austin.

Liked John (but not sure I'd want to see his Latin dances).

Expected Gary to be better.

Ola's "dress".

How actors don't seem to act the dancer.

I was pleasantly surprised Austin and John, and I warmed instantly to Kristina when it normally takes a couple of dances.

I had high expectations of Tom, after seeing the tap-dancing routine on youtube, so I guess I was only letting myself in for a fall. He was better than most, though.

Gary was did a lot worse than I expected. I also thought Lisa and Jodie looked a bit awkward in the group dance and I thought they'd be naturals, although to be fair it's probably hard to get a good impression for the 5 seconds or so that they were spotlighted.

Yes I thought she stood out as well, also Cherie Lunghi.

I am correct in thinking when Craig said Gillian Taylforth stood out he meant because she was bad and not good? Although she obviously thought he meant she was good.

I was surprised Jodie Kidd wasn't better, also sorry thought that dress she had on made her look very wide around the waist.

(PS thought Mark was stooping too much to get down to his partners height I suppose)

I was really surprised at Austin Healy - he's gonna be a regular Twinkle-Toes Hopefully he'll be able to do well with his latin dances, although if he's anything like Matt Dawson, he might find it a struggle ... although Austin looks like he's up for the challenge!! Not knowing much about him (don't really follow rugby), he don't seem to be a bad bloke - I think he's one to watch!!

I was also surprised at the reporter (sorry ... on typing this I've completely forgotten his name! ), although I think he'll have problems with his latin dances.

Definitely Austin Healey - I couldn't even remember his name last week and he talked himself down all the time so I was expecting a heavy footed clumsy sportsman (though they do improve) but instead he looked like he'd been waltzing for years!

He made it look effortless - I love it when they throw themselves into it like that and forget being self conscious.

Tom was the most disappointing and I agreed with Craig when he said Tom gave a "smug" performance. I know it's week 1 and we shouldn't be too critical but given his previous dance training, the performance from Austin was what I was expecting from Tom.”

I agreed with Craig too....

Didnt realise Tom had previous dancing experience even when my mum kept saying throughout his performance that there`s no way he`s a beginner.

Loved Austin and John

Andrew and John were fab!!!!! Andrew was actually a bit raunchy in place. But message to Ola: this is about your partner, let them shine and don't use them as props!

I think there is no way that Tom does not have previous dance experience. I have seen his tap clip and it is now clear he has studied a lot more than that...

Not much scope for rugby hands in the ballroom, they may appear in the Latin! Hopefully not. Think he may have studied Matt Dawson's dancing and know what not to do!!!!! [no that's not a criticism of Matt - I really liked him, but he never really got to grips with the Latin]
