possibly. There were bits of Don which were quite good and other bits that were awful. I think hes lucky that hes partnered with Lilia as if he does have any rhythm she'll bring it out of him.

He was far too harsh on Gary who wasn't the worst of the group as we could plainly see during the round up.

Some think he's been told to play the Mr Nasty role with Len as Mr Nice. I don't like all that, why can't they all be Mr Judge, fair and honest with constructive criticism?

He and the other judges should avoid the term 'natural rhythm' altogether, and certainly when commenting on black celebrities. It's a cliche and verging on patronising.

I'm getting really fed up with Craig. He bleats on about wanting the competition to be about the best dancers not personality and then starts making harsh personal comments about their dancing which only serve to make people look at personality. He can say they weren't very good and talk about aspects of the dance and where they went wrong without insulting people. Worse is that he's so harsh sometimes that Len then feels he has to go to the other extreme. He and Craig used the be the sensible scorers but last night Arlene and Bruno seemed like the fair judges!

I really hoped they'd sort out the judging this year

Craig is my favourite judge from last year but his marking and some of the comments were below the belt last night. He seemed to be in a particular grumpy mood but giving a 1 to a newcomer on their first week was just nasty and mean. If they get through to the last seven then you can mark to a higher standard, but you do not crush a newcomer in the first week, but try and give constructive criticism and hope. I do hope Craig is not in the same mood next week with the women or I will be going off him.

He was by the far the fairest last year. I think he was much more himself, and not acting up to the nasty persona. However, this year it has gone back to the Craig of old.

On the whole, I prefer the nasty Craig than the forced grin of the real Mr Nasty, Len Goodman. Blatant favouritism last year, vile towards the other judges if they had a differing opinion (particularly Arlene) and his over-scoring is my main bug-a-boo regarding SCD.

I think Craig's actually the best of the judges in some ways - he always tries to give people something to work on by mentioning specific things they can try to improve. OK, sometimes he's OTT, but so are Arlene, Len and Bruno with their praise on occasion, and IMO that's no less cringe-worthy than a rollicking for being rubbish.

If Craig was going to give it to anyone, Gary was a good target - he's tough enough to take a bit of criticism and clearly wants to know how he can make things better. Telling him it a was a rubbish performance will make him realise it's not just about putting your feet in the perfect sequence

Actually (puts bee-yatch hat on) the funniest thing was hearing Karen gush about wanting to win again this year and watching her face drop after the scoring.

(takes bee-yatch hat off)

Sorry to Karen lovers

Just watched it and thought Craig was pretty spot on with all his comments. Was perhaps a little harsh on Gary and Mark, but in the end I think most people got scores higher then they should because of Len's high marking.

I think his comments about Tom looking smug were spot on. There was something I didn't like during his dance and when Craig said he looked smug, I realised he was right. Its like I knew it was a good dance (especially for a first week) but there was something off putting about it.

My impression is that Craig can be harsher to male celebs - they have to win him round - I can remember being a bit grudging to the likes of Colin Jackson and sometimes to Mark Ramprakash till quie late in the contest. However, he usually has a Golden Girl who gets the (for him) kid-gloves treatment - generally one with pop connections (Zoe, Emma, Alesha) and this year, if his comments tonight are anything to go by, it will be Rachel.
