You don't have to be a scruffy tramp to be cruel to animals.
I was chatting to a perfectly respectable couple at the bus stop who had a white westie terrier. When they sat down on the bus he was constantly whacking and smacking it - it wasn't doing anything wrong at all. He shoved it onto the floor, and just cos it wouldn't sit still he kept smacking it. I was disgusted and wondered why I ever thought they were a nice couple. It can keep you awake at night worrying what cruelty some animals have to suffer but you can't rescue them all. And then there's cruelty to children, it's a horrible world we live in. Sometimes I would be scared to confront anyone smacking their dog as they're probably turn on you, and then if the RSPCA refuse to get involved because they don't know where someone lives to help rescue it - what else can you do? I hope this kitten gets rescued because just one rescued animal is one less that has to suffer. That is the best we can do. |
