I know it's only the first week, but did anyone else feel the candidates were a bit, well, formless? I can't really remember any of them, other than the team leaders, and I didn't really see much of a personality emerging from any of them. It'll probably gear up over the next few weeks, but in both the US and UK versions I knew by the end of episode one who everyone was, who was likely to succeed and sort of what kind of people they were. I just didn't get that from this series.
That said, it was very enjoyable, and nice to hear some proper Irish dialects ("Ah, lads! I can go down t'Moore Street and get 'em for eight euro!). I do hope the tasks will be a bit more ambitious and different to at least Alan Sugar's series: the first task was virtually ripped off from season 4, where the candidates had to go out and sell fish in the market. But they made that more entertaining. Here's hoping! Oh yeah, and does anyone else think Mark looks like Wayne Rooney?

Is anyone outside of Ireland able to watch this anymore?
Last week I watched it on the TV3 website without a problem. But now, it says that the video can only be streamed within Ireland. |

The same happens if you try to view the BBC site form Ireland. I wonder why they left it last week and switched it off this week? Just in case your interested the girls won again this week. |

Thought they really ramped it up this week! From selling apples in Moore Street to running a whole event the next! Now THAT's what I call pressure!
Thought both teams did well, but the girls definitely aced it with Spore, even though they didn't really seem to have much of a clue as to what the game was about. The guys dropped a huge clanger with the Adidas branding --- you could tell that from the moment they picked up the gloves --- and like Bill said, they were basically just wandering around most of the time, possibly secure in the belief they had done enough to win. NEVER a good idea! Hadn't they learned anything at all from last week? Thought all signs were pointing towards Ronan going, but I guess in the end Derek did very little, which seems to really grind the big man's gears, so he was on the way out. Interesting that for the second week running, the girls tried to get into a place they had no hope of doing so (last week, the Garda station, this week the IFSC) --- more lessons to be learned? Looking forward to next week. Random prediction: one of the girls to go this time...

I really enjoyed this weeks episode actually
And tbh I think the quality of contestant on our show is alot higher then the vast majority of contestants form season 4 of the british version They don't seem to be in it for the fame etc. as much |

Not much chatter about this...
Last night's ep was pretty good. I liked the idea of splitting the teams up and sending them to different national locations (for those who don't know, Galway is in the west of Ireland). Thought the team in Galway did a LOT more to try to publicise their event, getting the celebs (such as they were) in, and really did a good job overall. (I've spoilered the next bit, for those of you trying to download or who haven't managed to see it yet) ![]() Sorry to see
Spoiler
Like Bill's use of the word "warriors" --- havent heard that in years! ![]() Hope they have some more interesting tasks in the weeks ahead though. Two out of three so far have been "simple" selling tasks, with the exception being last week's hosted event for EA. It will get a bit stale and samey if every week they're just selling in a different location/context. Need to see them being told to for instance make something from scratch and then go sell it, or come up with a new idea for a marketing campaign, or anything. Also like to see more interaction/fighting between the teams, and see who builds alliances with who. Haven't really seen any of that yet. Still enjoying it though... |

This has been great so far.
My only minor concern is the repetitive use of product placements in the tasks, like in the US version. The lack of these product placements is one of the things that makes the UK version so great, and superior to the US version. But as long as each task is shown in detail like in the UK (and not the superficial coverage of the tasks we see in the US), it doesn't matter much. |

Strategy is the team leader's responsibility in most situtations though.
Sales dont happen without marketing. IMO it was a basic error not to spend money on marketing; although spending money on leaflets when better ones already existed was a bad mistake too). Overall the team leader was weak I thought and should've gone. |

Last nights was ridiculous - that Bill bloke is a right twonk, no way should Avril have gone - I have never seen such ineptitude as Joanna and Orla!!
On the plus side - how good was Brenda in the other team, if I was himself I'd hire her on the spot! |

Let's be honest --- the idea of a "Personal Loan Card"? What genius at Ble Cube thought THAT up? Would YOU carry one? Oh, look at me! I cant afford to buy this, but I have a loan to help me!
Probably ranks imo as the most stupid idea since "How to speak French" was translated into French! Taking that into account, I think the teams had a really hard job selling the concept, but there were some truly awful gaffes. Orla was sh*t as a team leader: did nothing, hardly even spoke AND missed the deadline. I just wanted to punch Joanna in the face! That wide grin of hers that says "I know better than you do!" freaks me out, and her pitch was a joke! I really hope she's next to go. Can't understand why, when Brenda had clearly stated she didn't want the words PERSONAL LOAN on the card, the others didn't notice that it had been included. How awake were they? I did feel sorry for Avril. She was fired because she was too quiet -- Bill doesn't seem to like people who don't speak up, but I can't understand why, when the pitch failed solely on Joanna's (what shall we call it? Let's be generous) performance, she wasn't kicked out. Overall, a terrible task met with equally terrible effort, and just not at all convincing. I would however be interested to see if the idea works, as I think it's dead in the water. Hoping for better next week... |

Avril had to go. Theres nothing wrong with being quiet or being young. And I liked her more as a person than Joanna or Orla. But Bill is supposed to be recruiting a leader and she had no star quality.
Joanna screwed up the presenting (which was the main element of the task), so in theory she should've been the one to go, but Bill is looking at how she performed in previous weeks and so I thought he did the right thing in giving her a second chance. But its been clear in recent weeks that Avril has been unable to command respect, to lead a meeting or influence people around her. This week was Avril's second chance -she was a poor team leader on the Supermacs task. Orla was poor too, but I think if Orla is in the board room again, Bill will fire her. |

Bill Cullen is coming across as a real tw*t in this programme, Orla was useless but that Simon (I think) can't even string a sentence together - he should've gone. It seems Bill isn't judging them on the actual tasks but just on who he likes. Best bit was def when he sent Shane back to the house though.

Bill fires people for the same reasons in almost every episode: "You're too quiet, you don't speak up for yourself" et.c.
At the same time, the person who messes up royally and loses the task for his/her team gets a new chance. |

nooo Joanna
![]() I'll miss seeing her crooked, smug smile in the boardroom. Any one know who wins? It was recorded during the summer so I'm surprised the winner hasn't been leaked yet...or at least not to my knowledge. I hope Nikki or Brenda. |

Cracking episode last night, Joanna had a melt down in the car interview at the end!
I was a little scared of her to be honest

What a little cow! She wasn't even embarrassed at what she did --- she was actually PROUD of it, and laughing at the others on her team, while simultaneously talking them up and pretending to be their supporter/friend --- how very hypocritical. Glad she went: I was sick of seeing her clown-wide smile (Jesus! She'd frighten a Great White away!) and her constant wittering on about how great she is.
In general, I'm still enjoying this, though it does seem a poor copy of the UK version, more limited maybe. Looking forward to tonight's ep... |

Paddy going has to be the most shocking result so far. I had him pencilled in for the final as he was so inoffensive and hid in the background well. I guess that was his undoing though. He never really bothered to speak in the boardroom. Nicky to win.

Why Nicky to win? All I remember her doing is standing in the background and making a mess of PMing the cars task. She sucks. Shane or Brenda to win. Joannas taxicab talk was the best apprentice moment ever!!¡
