Panasonic screen burn

Hi All

I am well and truly peed off , i told my wife and kids DO NOT LEAVE A STILL IMAGE ON THE SCREEN as this will knacker it .

Went out to next door for 30 mins and came back and saw on the screen a radio station (freeview) still image where only the music comes out.
I turned the tv off stright away and turned it back on via a blank av channel and the screen had a ghost image of the burnt in page from the radio channel she was listning too/

Well you can imagine what i felt like as this is only 3 mths old tv and my pride and joy as i am disabled and dont go out very often , put a film of ice age in as that has plenty of white scenes and its helped a lot but i know its there and you can only see it if you are right up near the screen say 12 inches away .

If any one can help me get help on this i would really appricate it.

Andrew

Have a look in the TV menu/manual, you should have something in there to get rid of the retention.

If there's nothing in there just leave the TV on a blank station, one that hasn't been tuned in for about 15-30mins, it should have gone, if not gone faded, if it's still there just leave it on for another 15mins.

To be honest it can't be that bad as it was only left on for 30mins, it's retention not screen burn.

If you did nothing it would fade away over the next few days.

Probably image retention, not screen burn. Just keep watching the TV as normal and it should go. Out of interest what model tv is it and what picture settings do you have? Best to use Cinema mode or similar.

Leaving it in dynamic is a short route to such problems, but this really really does not sound permanent. 30 mins is a very short time, it will wear off. I agree with all above, just watch TV and it will disappear. Contrast and brightness need to be somewhere around the middle to get an accurate picture, and having them there will extend the life of your panel, prevent heart failure, and give more viewing pleasure. Panasonics are very tough, you shouldn't need to excercise any caution at all in the ordinary way of things, as long as your settings are correct.

Tuning to a blank analogue channel (ie snow) in full screen (no black/grey bars - auto/16:9 mode) for a while should speed up the process of getting it away. As said, half an hour should just be retention, not burn And when it's gone, delete all radio channels from the service list!

What I do is have one of the standard settings (dynamic in my case) set so that contrast and brightness are turned right down. When I want to listen to the radio I just set the picture to this setting.

The TV is not involved when I listen to the radio via Sky as it is hooked up to the amp.

Say it with flowers or a box of chocolates, then on the little card write, "you're now banned from using the TV XXX"
