I need a replacement TV... advice appreciated

My ancient TV died yesterday and I am considering getting a new one (I'm only considering as I have a spare, but it is smaller and has an irritating silver surround).

This is what I am looking for

1. LCD
2. Black surround
3. 26-28" actual picture size (pref with a narrow surround)

I don't need digital (I live in the sticks and only satellite works here) or flashy stuff... a great picture and decent sound quality are what is important.

My FiL says Panasonic... but I'd appreciate some independant advice

Personally I'd say Sony, but Panasonic are good as well - you're unlikely to find one without a Freeview tuner.

Thanks I like the Panasonic (I have a Pan DVD recorder), but just checking. It's a big investment to get wrong.
