Louis in series two, when choosing between Alexandra and Chenai
I remember at the time, when making his final four selection, he said he 'only wanted one girl' and therefore only one of Alex and Chenai could have a place in his final four. I found this very odd as the two girls weren't even similiar and it was just strange that he only wanted one girl, regardless of how talented they were. Did anyone else find it strange? Anyway, he made the wrong choice IMO. Chenai was good but Alexandra was better IMO

I remember him saying that and it really annoyed me....saying that though Louis only knows how to manage boys / boybands.....
but maybe it was a good thing he didnt pick Alex as she would not have won for sure that year with Brenda and Maria and then there being the popular contestants like Shayne and Andy......she has a much better chance doing well this year if she makes the live rounds....... |

I didn't like Chenai at all, and thought at the time he made the wrong decision. However I agree, Alex has a better chance this year than she would've done in 2006

I remember him saying that now that you've mentioned it OP. And I really don't know why he wanted mostly boys because bar Shayne, and one of the other boys who he didn't actually put through, the boys in that category were very weak.
But it does work out for Alexandra because she stands a better chance this year if she makes the live shows than she would've a few years ago. |

Chenai deserved her chance i believe, Alex wasn't as good as she is now.
Maybe Louis knew she wasn't ready? |

Louis made the correct decision she needed time to improve and if she makes it to the live shows then she will have a better chance of winning than she would have against Shayne and Andy.
I am glad she came back she is much better now than she was back then! |

Alexandra is an excellent vocalist now so deserves her chance (though I cant remember her in 2005 TBH
) Remember Chenai though and she sang through her nose.

Here's Alex in 2005 :
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=REmxNe16sik And then 2008 : http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gHcXQR...eature=related She's improved so much! I remember being impressed in 2005 but she sounds quite average in the first one compared to this year's one. |

It was Chenai's second time, wasn't it? For that reason, I knew she'd go through. I loved Chenai though, and Alexandra stands a much better chance this year than she would have done in 2005.

I loved Chenai I loved her in the first series and I loved her in the second series, I thought she has a good voice and was defiantly some star potential their. She has some good songs on her myspace profile as well last time I checked.

Im quessing Louis felt the public would warm more to Chenai at the time based on her 'story' ie - second chance and i seem to remember her having another sob story? and i seem to also remember he told Alex he hadnt seen any personality from her or something like that, im glad she didnt get through cause shes so much more ready this year.

I remember not liking how sexist that comment was, but I wouldn't say there was a lot to choose between them back then. Although Alex has improved, I think I was more impressed by her the first time round. I burst out laughing when she first auditioned this year, with the same song she chose in 2005 (and yes, it is geeky that I remembered that!
) A lot of singers like Alex have appeared on X Factor and in the charts in general since then, and I for one would rather hear something more original from my X Factor finalists, but I do think she stands a good chance this time around which she probably wouldn't have had competing against Chenai in the 2005 live finals. if Alex had made it through then instead of Chenai, I doubt she'd have got much further than Chenai did, but it looks like everyone's happy now ![]() xxxx |

I remember going off her because it was quite incessant. I think the wait was good for Alex. The problem is I think we have a higher standard of talent this year and so it's going to be a much more competitive series. |
