Help needed - which TV should I buy?
calturner

Hi,

I'm replacing my 32" JVC LCD screen with a 40 or 42" screen. I've narrowed it down (within my price range) to:

Samsung LE40A656
Panasonic TH42PZ80B
Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000

Does anyone have any advice on which TV would be the best model to choose? They're all 1080p Full HD (not that I really understand what that means).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Well the 40W4000 is a cracking set, Pansonics are usually good (although I'm not very familiar with them), however a few people here have suggested their upscalers aren't very good.

I wouldn't put Samsung in the same class as either of the others.

I fitted one on a wall last week, looked pretty good, and has an Ethernet socket on the back.

The Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000 is very highly thought of. Trusted Reviews in their review of it gave it scores of:

Design Score 9
Features Score 9
Image Quality Score 9
Sound Quality Score 8
Value Score 8
Overall Score 9

Teleworld currently have it on sale for £799.99, if that price is any good for you.

At least you should be onto a winner whatever you decide to do!

The Which? website could be a useful source of information:

There's buying advice like High definition TV explained as well as detailed independent reviews of LCD and Plasma TVs including the models you mentioned.

Hi Sancheeez,
Which? has loads of free advice guides, including the one I linked to first. Most product reviews are, as you say, available to subscribers.

Thanks,

Indeed.

The general info in your guide can be found in plenty places on the 'net. It's the detailed reviews most people will be interested in ...... and plenty places on the 'net also offer these for free.

Which? does not.

Hence my warcry of SPAM!

Your username would also suggest you're here on a mission to plug the site .....

Why when it gets a poorer image quality score?

http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/re...46in-LCD-TV/p1

compared to

http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/re...40in-LCD-TV/p1

Sony KDL40W4000 £733
