Hello all - I hope somebody can help me with this query.

I have a Holdan 6-way Scart control centre (similar to the Quatro/Quintro) with my DVD, VCR and Sky Digibox going into the inputs. The output is by way of RGB Scart from the box to the RGB input on my widescreen TV.

I'm very happy with this set up, but I'm considering upgrading my television to a Plasma screen which has the following inputs (I'm not familiar with all of these):

BNC Video in
BNC Video Out (loop through out)
4pin DIN s-Video in
RCA Video Audio in
RGB (PC) in D-sub 15 x 1
RGB (PC) Audio in M3 Stereo Plug
BNC G/Y, B/Pb.R/Pr.HD.VD In
RCA RGB Audio In

My question is this - as the tv does not appear to have a RGB Scart input, what would be the best way to connect my Switch Box to the tv? Is there a Scart-to-whatever lead available that will give me RGB quality?

I love the flexibility of the Holdan and would prefer to have all my input devices routed through this, but by doing this, will I have to compromise quality?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can get a scart to bnc lead which should solve your problems...your plasma screen should have three bnc connectors for RGB (most of them do)
Hope this helps.

[EDIT]
Never mind, I just saw the price.
Here's the other way around though.
[/EDIT]

I'd sugest looking into RGB-SCART to VGA converter.
Stay Tuned!

(Some more info here.)

I've been faced with a similar dilemma having purchased an LG 42 PZ17 plasma from Richer Sounds earlier this year.

The scart to BNC converter sounds good but my LG doesn't have this input so at the moment I'm using a scart to S-video converter purchased from Maplins for about £30-£40 pounds.

What I really want is a scart to VGA converter because I understand this will give the best picture of all from an RGB source such as a sky box or DVD and I can then start using the picture-in-picture function on the LG which only works via the VGA input. I'm currently in discussions with www.gamesoft.co.uk. They do several converters all reasonably priced. The trouble is that LG, in their infinite wisdom, have made the VGA sync to a higher frequency than is normally the case for PC monitors and plasmas so most the converters I've stumbled across aren't compatible. Be warned- you could have them same problem with your plasma.

Hi there,

I have a Pana Plasma, and I made the mistake of getting the tuner because of this issue with the scart sockets etc. Eventually I needed a Quintro+ as well due to multiple consoles etc. If I had done my research properly I would have bought the Quintro+ and then a Scart to RBG converter from LektroPaks, www.lektropacks.co.uk

They have all sorts of good stuff there to help you out with this issue.

have fun.
