Which HDTV?
Hi i'm looking to buy a 37 inch HDTV and the two that have stood out are the Samsung LE37A656 and the Panasonic TX-37LZD80. The tv is for a living room that does not get much natural light into it. I do own a PS3 so would like to make the most of it and also get a few blue ray films as I believe both TV's support 24fps and run at 1080p. I haven't yet seen these tv's perform I have just found them on the internet. Would anyone recommend either of these? I don't own an HDTV so have had to read up on features from the web but as far as I can see both look quite good and only lack LED backlights.
Thanks Marcus |

Hi Marcus,
From what I've seen and read, I'd certainly recommend the Samsung for hd viewing - it's probably the best lcd in its price range for this. That said, the panasonic is no slouch either and, in my opinion is better with sd material. So which is most important to you : excellent hd but average sd performance or good hd and good sd - you pays your money ... |

I recently bought a 52" Samsung 6 Series TV and have been absolutely floored by the quality. It's simply incredible. The contrast ratio is great and the 120Hz really makes the picture all the better. I'd go Samsung all the way! Especially with Blu-ray, it's amazing to see just how clear the picture is. I've actually been working with Warner Home Video and am happy to say that they're reallly standing behind the BR, so get ready for even more movies to enjoy!

Hi,
The Samsung LE37A656 is very highly regarded, HDTVorg gave it a 94% on their review. As mentioned the Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD80F is no slouch, but received a slightly lower score of 89% when HDTVorg reviewed it. If price comes into it, Beyond Television has the Samsung LE37A656 for £657.77, and ElectroSaver has the Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD80F for £669.99. There isn't much difference in price, but given that the Samsung is cheaper and appears to be superior I'd opt for that. |
