Alan (pizza delivery guy)
I was just watching the repeat of XF from last week and this was the first time I'd seen him, and I felt pretty uncomfortable
Especially now I knew he had learning problems, they way everyone was laughing at him was just wrong ![]() I'm not sure if he was being exploited or not, maybe he was, I mean obviously he was told he was good by the producers before he saw Simon and co. He was bad but I thought they made fun of him ![]() Fair play to the guy for staying positive though, he was still smiling when he came out

If you look on the X Factor website there's a video of him after his interview. He seems in quite high spirits, and he seemed to find it funny.
I know sometimes people are concerned when contestants appear "slow", but that doesn't mean that they don't understand what the show is about. There isn't really much of an alternative. They can't ban people with learning difficulties from applying, and they can't expect everyone who shows up to prove they understand what they're getting into. And if someone does make an arse of themselves, how do you prove its due to their learning difficulties and not just because they're deluded? Plenty of seemingly intelligent people can't grasp that they don't sound very good either. I would much rather keep things the way they are, because it should be down to personal choice whether you audition or not, even if someone else judges you "too dim" to compete. I don't think there will be any lasting harm from appearing on the show, so wrapping these people in cotton wool feels like the worse of two evils. |
