Well...as a Leon fan...I ma delighted!!!!

Caledonia - a stroke of genuis. Wonderful song that needs a new version.

You Don't Know Me - I am in heaven at the thought of this!

Misty Blue - again...another brilliant choice for Leon. He will make me melt with this.

A wonderful choice of covers, a fantastic first single and a perfect balance of new and old.

Can't wait!

Hmmm this actually looks ok.

Caledonia is a brilliant, brilliant track; very emotive.

YDKM was also one of his best performances on the X Factor.

Can someone post a link to the 5 covers (not including WYB).

EDIT: Here's Caledonia: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=ML9uozNsWfQ ... absolutely brilliant, so emotive

So easy listening then? Thought he was going down Duffy and Amy Winehouse route?

So pleased about 'You Don't Know Me'

I'm not familiar with 'Caledonia' and 'Misty Blue'. Have been checking them out on YouTube. I think they are perfect songs for Leon's voice

I'm looking forward to the album sooo much. It looks like Sony/BMG haven't let Leon down

Looking forward to hearing the original songs but delighted at the cover choices, especially Song For You. One of my faves although I'm very happy with all of them.

Seems to be a well-balanced album and now just really excited to hear it. I think it's going to be fantastic.

I don't know if I'd term the choices as easy listening, more soul than anything. Also we haven't heard the arrangements yet and doubtless he's put his own stamp on them. I think it's a great choice of covers and can't wait to hear the original tracks!

nothing wrong with easy listening at all, in fact I expect Rhydian's album to be mostly easy listening, but with leon's younger fanbase I would have thought he would have thrown in some more contemporary pop numbers in there ...and from his single it sounds like they have made him more westlifey than anything

The covers seem like good choices, but you wouldn't expect anything less from Cowell and his team at Syco. I'm not Leon's biggest fan by any means, but I think the single is well suited to him and gives him a good chance of doing well this year.

Thanks for that ZipGypsy.

Those other tracks are right up Leon's street. I don't like the other tracks (Misty Blue; A Song For You), but I can see they are perfect for Leon's fans.

As long as you enjoy his music, that's the main thing

EDIT: Actually, on reflection, Misty Blue when sung by Mary J and Monica is actually ok.

Riki, I made up a CD of Elliot's songs from AI and that was my favourite too. Can't wait to hear Leon's rendition, I think he'll nail it.

I think it looks fantastic. A good mix in there of slow and sensual, and we know there's some jazzy numbers in there.

It should appeal to a wide demographic IMHO.

Covers are:

Caledonia - will be absolutely fantastic. It's not only loved in Scotland.
Paolo Nutini version

Misty Blue is a gorgeous 70's soul song and I really, really hope it' is a cover.
Mary J Blige

Dorothy Moore

A Song For You
Donny Hathaway

Right Now - another cover possibility, old jazz number, also done by PCD.

You Don't Know Me - best XF performance & much loved by fans.

Sorry - I know my post was late to the party but I got stuck and DS wouldn't let me move, then chucked me out so I'm unable to edit.

The anly addition is a possible cover of Right Now - link above.

Looking really good...

I'm so pleased he has recorded You Don't Know Me, after all it was his trademark song during the show itself...

Thanks for that.
I think it is a fantastic mix of new songs and covers. Love A Song For You and Caledonia as well as You Dont Know Me.
I think people expecting a typical pop album from Leon are barking up the wrong tree. He isnt that style of singer. This is much more of a Michael Buble style of album judging by the tracklisting though there are more original songs on this album. Cant wait to hear it now.

Wow Caledonia - never expected that really. I am of course more familiar with Mary Black version. You Dont Know Me was a dead cert in my book.

As much as I love a Song for You - Elliot Yamins version and even this year I have heard Michael Bublés live version, I do think it is not a song for a young chap, just mho

I dont get these people who 'assumed' Leons album would be Jazzy or Duffy-esque. I remember Dannii at the end of XF when Leon sang Long and Winding Road that we hadn't seen Leons potential and breadth of singing style - wte. People are too eager to pigeon-hole folk, Leon can sing pop, country, swing, jazz etc. I am just thankful that there will hopefully be no electronic Smurf sounds in the background.

Edited - just reaquainted myself with Misty Blue, lovely soulful stuff, can really hear this suiting Leon.

Only familiar with 'Don't Call This Love', 'You Don't Know Me' and 'When You Believe'. I've just had a listen to 'Misty Blue', 'Caledonia' and 'A Song For You' and these songs so suit Leon's style.

I agree with comments already made that Leon was never going to bring out a standard 'pop' album. This was obvious from his time on the X Factor and his style of singing.
