I was wondering if it was worth changing the whole stereo so I have an auxiliary input, rather than faffing about with FM Transmitters which have read very varied reviews and I also don't want to be messing about with finding new stations as I'm driving along, fairly dangerous I'd have thought. I've been googling and reading up on all this for days and it's seriously doing my nut in, but I'm missing having my iPod in my car, having just changed it and now have a CD player rather than an easily solveable cassette.
However, the factory fitted stereo for the Renault Clio 2006, 1.2 Sports, is an odd shape it's not rectangle, it sort of goes off on a diagonal. pic here So I wouldn't be able to just change one over easily by the looks of it. I also have volume control and input selectors on the steering wheel which, as far as I can make out, make it a little more complicated too.
So... does anyone have any experience/recommendations how to overcome this or whether or where I could find the auxillary input? I know there's one somewhere because there's an option on the cd/radio, but it's not on dashboard. I read a thread somewhere outthere about someone with an Espace tracking down his aux input somewhere on the side to back whatever that means and he mentioned soldering (!). To be honest, I have no idea what he said during most of it.

I have phoned Renault, although very friendly, about as helpful as phoning a spud. Apparently, unless it's fitted during the factory process, there are no other options they can help with.
So, options I do have -
1. Replace stereo - don't think it's as easy as it sounds due to shape and steering wheel controls
2. Finding auxiliary input but then what
3. Back to plan A and an FM Transmitter. I think I've narrowed it down to these...
Kensington 1, Kensington 2 - but neither charges, Belkin Tunebase, this scans with one touch and charges
Help please?

That sounds ideal.
