Ipod touch vs Mwg Atom Life
metacity
28-09-2008
Which one to go for?

Ipod Touch 8GB or MWG Atom Life ?

The Atom is £200 - £50 (Cashback) and has mobile phone capabilities. So the Atom is a little cheaper (with this deal).

But is the Ipod touch worth it?

Nope, I am trying to compare the phoneless Apple IPod Touch 8GB to the MWG Atom Life mobile phone.

ipod touch weighs less
ipod touch isnt expandable with memory.
touch has a bigger screen
touch is slimmer and prettier
atom life has only 1gb memory - you need to buy a sd card to get 8+gb of storage.
touch doesnt use a stylus.
atom looks like a brick compared to touch.
touch syncs easily with mac - itunes etc..
touch

having a phone built in adds size weight and drains power. if you dont need the phone functionality then this is a bit extreme.

imo, the atom looks bulky and ugly - i would always go for the touch. esepcially when 'windows' welcomes you on start up as your rummaging around for a stylus

I should add: I do not own anything by Apple - I use windows and linux. Also I am a student in higher education - can I get any discounts (couldn't find any myself)

u cant get discounts on ipod - the highest apple discount is avail if you go to apple store whilst using the unis network.

visit a apple store - you can walk up a play on a ipod touch.

- PMP, Organiszer, Reading Documents, Possibly editing documents.

I thought the Atom (as it would have MS Office Mobile) would be awesome for productivity? Plus it has a phone.

- I'd like to put some more intensive applications on it: SSH, VNC (would it perform well under pressure?)

- which one is likely to be used most actively? And not just put in the drawer after 6 months? Which one has the longevity?
