Does Austin deserve to be there?

I really don't like it when people have already had a stab at the charts yet they want more, and could possibly deny someone else who hasn't had a chance. If he was that good/liked by the public then he wouldn't have vanished.

I'm not denying that he has talent, I just don't find it fair that someone who has already been a singer in the charts gets another go.

Why not? He's only been for a job interview like everyone else.

If people become unemployed we don't consign them to the bin.

He was best in his category from what we saw by some considerable way.

It's like Carly smithson from AI.

Of course they deserve another chance..Its not like the boys talent is filled with great people now is it?

He was in a crappy boyband, they didn't do very well.

I actually don't like Austin, there is something about him that irrates me, he can sing, but he isn't as good as Laura, Amy, Rachel, Diana. They wrip the floor with him.

I don't find Austin very likeable, he irritates me no end, but I do really like his voice. I loved his 'Valerie' last night, he does own the stage.

He was in a group that was put together by a manager who wanted to see if five gay guys in a band would sell records. They didn't have any sort of success. However all this seems to have been hushed up and spinned no end. It looks like they are trying to keep it a secret.

But Austin then appeared on a Channel Four (prime time) reality show called Boys Will Be Girls.

I don't see why he shouldn't have a second or third chance but I really can't see him being a success story once the show ends even if he is the winner. imo.

He is very madia savvy so has a huge advantage on the others already. The tears were a master stroke. Teen girls will be loving him as a result.

I don't agree with that at all. Doing well in the charts is dependent on lots of things that don't have anything to do with talent, marketing, image, distribution, etc, etc. Are you really trying to argue that the people who top the charts always do so because they are the most talented?

The x factor is one of the best ways, nowadays, for an unknown to establish themselves as a 'name' and to guarantee record sales. Austin has figured this out and doing well in the competition is obviously really important to him. I certainly wouldn't deny him the chance.

He has a good voice and he is very talented but I don't like him. I find him unlikeable

I agree. But if he get's into the live shows, the teenagers and most women will luv him because of his looks

I think he's overrated. He may up his game as show progresses but for from what I've heard from him so far hasn't been that impressive IMO.

I'm not too keen on him. He hasn't got the likeability factor and his talent is not remarkable enough to get past that IMO.

Nice voice, but I really dislike HIM. If he didn't cry every two seconds, and crawled out from his backside, I'd like him

LOL!

I met Austin at boot camp last year (so I guess this is his fourth chance, lol!) and I actually did like him then, and as a result I like him now. I thought he performed well last night, although so did some of the other guys. I liked Eoghan and Ricky but Austin's performance was probably the best overall in his category out of the ones which were shown.

Most XF contestants (at this stage) have had some degree of experience in the music/showbiz industry, so Austin shouldn't be singled out because of the experience she's had. I'd heard of Boys Will Be Girls, but never of 5Boys. Suzie Furlonger from the Over 25s was in The 411, and I know quite alot of the words to their song Dumb, which featured in an advert and was a huge hit, although they only had one other hit. As she's been featured less on XF itself, she hasn't taken as much stick as Austin has for her past experience so far, but who knows what will happen if she gets more coverage on the next couple of shows

He's not only been in boybands, he's auditioned for X Factor before.

His voice is good but he is a third rate Lee Ryan impersonator.

I couldn't believe the amount of make up they had plastered on him for last night's show.

Is he good looking? He's spotty, dull-skinned, long-faced, big-chinned and slightly hunched for his lack of height. He's Dean Gaffney with half a Boots counter on his face.

Blimey, I don't recall him from last year. Did they not feature his audition?

Do you think you'll try again?

I'm the same. I can't deny his talent but as a person, I cannot warm to him at all.

I don't know why.

The crying didn't help last night. A bit OTT considering everybody is in the same position.

I remember he was featured very briefly last year getting through the audition (may have been on The Xtra Factor as well but I'm not sure) - I don't recall seeing him in boot camp. He might have been shown but he wasn't very prominent.

I thought his voice was okay but he looks like he's in pain anytime he goes for a note that's even remotely challenging. I cannot warm to him as a person at all though. Everything about him seems so contrived , the tears , the cliched dialogue , the edits with Simon praising him. You wouldn't think he'd had so much media exposure by the way it all seems so overwhelming for him.

But I don't think he does not deserve his place there. I mean , we had a British Soap Award winning actor come second before!

His tears do seem put on imo. Not shocked at how media savvy he already is. I do like his singing voice but he does seem very sure of himself.
