Im still quite in shock. I think this was one of the biggest mistakes in the history of X Factor. Here we had a girl with the potential to be THE new Whitney and she gets sent home because of a slightly messed up note. Others that were put through made mistakes and we saw even more of them on the Xtra Factor. Yes it was obvious she was a rough diamond but her voice is the closest to Whitney ive ever heard. Gave me goosebumps.

Alexandra is perfect. The control she has over her voice but Joelle possessed a power so strong within her voice and if she got it right, would be earth shattering.

I really do think that some record company is gonna try and snap her up before she has a chance to enter the X Factor again. In a year or two this girl could be phenomenal and it was made very clear by her auditions.

I also can't believe the lack of air time she got tonight. I thought she was considered one of the big ones and we just see a very short clip of her being told you have not made it! Ahhh

Oh and hi!!! My first post hehe. Ive been a lurker here for ages, throughout almost all of this years Big Brother. What made me suddenly join was because I got soo peeved from just browsing here tonight and seeing several spoilers unmarked but oh well. Hello

I dont, she was shouty and screechy. I can handle abit of screech, but not that much. The song she sang was to big for her and showed her weaknesses in the upper register.

Hey hey hey

To be honest, i think she should do what Alex did and wait a few years? till she has enough control over her voice and come back on the show.

Unless SImon or Syco or some other good label snaps her up then i believe she should bide her time.

All good things come to those who wait... i think.

I suppose yeah. She was very rough in places but ive just never seen so much potential before. She needs polishing and then I think she would be out of this world. Early Whitney had her problems to.

I thought she was great, shame she didn't get through.

She was 17, imagine how great she'll be in a few years time!

She has loads of potential but also loads of work to do. She needs to get some control over that voice, it's all over the place. She should get a good singing teacher and work on her technique for a few years and then try again. She isn't ready yet.

Ah yes thats right because shes never had any singing lessons. She just had that little cd warmup she listened to.

She did however record some songs which I was not keen on. Really lacking in power, kinda like Leona's old promo stuff.

Alexandra, Laura and Joelle should've been the top three girls, without question.

I'm well and truely gutted.

Calm down. Learning to be a great singer takes years and a boat load of lessons. IMO she needs a few more, but I agree with you that she has tremendous promise.

I didn't have much hope for her tonight, she was first up last night (and never bettered imo) and her audition was just amazing, not perfect but there are months of live shows for her to improve. But we never got told last night if she was through or not, those who got through seemed to be highlighted as getting through and Joelle wasn't shown. Then tonight we saw her hit a bum note, which even the best of singers do occassionally, and that was it and the people she walked out with (except the Rihanna lookalike) hadn't been featured at all, either last night or auditions. (Must be gutting to get to the 2nd day of bootcamp yet not make it onto the main show or Xtra factor once)

I hope joelle returns though.

Shes no Whitney Houston! yes she will get better with some vocal training, but i dont think shes gonna be as good as some people think. If a song is out her range its gonna sound screechy, she shouldn't do the mariah songs.

I think in regards to who would have been ready right now for the live shows it would have been Alexandra, Laura and Hannah but it's just quite a shame Joelle failed to make the final six girls as she 100% deserved that. The pretty young blonde girl with the sob story was not to special. I wasnt keen at all on the other blonde girl with that sorta forced Christina style voice and the other black girl had a different voice but Joelle had the overall package I thought. Would have just needed abit more control and would have been fantastic.

I'm amazed she didn't get through as well.

Her audition performance of Whitney was one of the best I have ever heard.

I am shocked and surprised Joelle didnt get through.

Yes she messed up a bit on this boot camp but not as much as the all family group and they got through.

She was good enough for top six imo.

I thought Joelle was better than Amy (who I love) and the other girl that we haven't seen much of (Anastasia?)

Joelle totally deserved to be in the top 6.

The difference between the family, and Joelle is that the girls category was so much tougher than the groups, therefore there were more spaces available for 4 instict.

Her performance of "Fly Me To The Moon" was amazing, although it was clear she still needs ALOT of control; there were a FEW moments which were very reminiscent of Whitney Houston in her early 1990s days. The way she phrased the lines was stunning, sort out how Whitney and Aretha would have approached it.

Although her initial audition was one of the best audition versions we've heard, it was by no means perfect and her voice was shaky, but still very impressive.

She should have at least made the top 24, her few bad notes were negible; the sheer tone of her voice and phrasing on its own should have carried her through!

They probably decided they didn't want another Whitney/Mariah clone this year, and have a mix of girls in there - I think it's safe to assume Anastasia is just there to make up the numbers, and Hannah just doesn't have the 'look' that Simon & co would want to be projecting for their new product... whereas Amy, Laura, Diana and Alex are more instantly marketable, and have more interesting voices to boot (IMO).

At the end of the day, it's never really been about a singing contest, it's who will shift the most units at Christmas, and could sell records in the US. Which is why Leon won last year (the marketable pretty boy) and Shayne similarly... Leona was an exception talentwise!

Looks like a shootout between the girls and the best groups, with possibly the media star Rachel going a long way... the boys have little hope, except if the girl voters pick out a favourite boy and back him to the hilt (maybe Austin)... It has worked before!

Highlight of all tonight was JLS and Desire's showdown, and mickeytaking of each other's act with Holly - the groups look more fun this year

She was superb. Along with Rachel, she was the most obvious raw talent on the show this year. It was an enormous error of judgement to let her go.

Amy noticeably faltered in her performance too, but somehow she got through. She wasn't even attempting anything dramatic either -- it was just... solid. I hate all these sob stories influencing the decisions!

I'm sure she'll bounce back though.

I think she was among the 5 best, but they like to throw in a few shocks at this stage. I'd guess that they had to pick between her and Alexandra for the 14-24 girls, or else you end up with the Nikitta/Leona situation where two singers want to do the same thing but can't and so one has to do things they aren't that comfortable with (although when Nikitta picked her own song, it was even worse!). I'd take Alex, Diana and either Laura or Hannah which gives an excellent spread of talent, interest and variation.
