Worldwide- Laura, Alexandra and Rachel.

I can't see any of the boys ever having success in america. Didnt Shane Ward become really popular in Japan(?) though? Same with the groups. They won't get worldwide success. I liked Ruth and actually agree she could indeed be popular in spain. Very sexy woman

I think they are good, but none of them are that good. I couldn't see any of them breaking in America. Perhaps with some work and some outstanding songs, but I'm not convinced. Possibly Alex, but she would need to differentiate herself from Leona, perhaps going more for the soul music style.

In the UK a few of them could do it. Bad Lashes, Alex and Diana seem like they have potential if there is a bit of work done. We'll get a better idea after the first few live shows, I suppose. JLS are good, but I'm not sure whether or not Cowell/Walsh will be able to update the boyband style to make it sell.

I suppose Leona made it seem achievable, but it was a tremendous achievement on her part and it will be incredibly difficult for anyone else to replicate that success even after her. It may even be harder as they will always be measured against her. Even the American Idols struggle to sell internationally. Jordin Sparks is only the second Idol to have any success abroad.

I just hope it isn't one of the OH SO WAY TO MANY screeching girl singers.
We have had more than enough with bleeding Leona and her inability to understand what a melody line is and what the difference between embellishment and screeching like a wounded animal is.

Duffy and winehouse have done amazingly worldwide. These singers sell very well, they haven't had #1s like leona has but they certainly can work internationally. Thats why i think rachel or laura stand a good chance with the right material.

So only women who screech are capable of world wide success then?

Everyone who isn't a Leona wannabe need not bother?

Yes.

(What the confusion is I don't know as I have re-read my post and it does appear to generally conform to a loose standard English sentence structure.)

Alexandra. She seems to be in a class of her own. Though I don't think she feels very confident yet.

I think it's her name Simon put in the envelope as the winner to be opened at the end.

I can see Alexandra and particularly Diana having the longevity. Laura and Rachel are flavour of the month.

Your inability to understand good singing is getting rather repetitive and boring . What do you think opera singers do? screech all the time? Its a type of singing, some people can appreciate it, others cant. If you cant, don't listen..

Alicia Keys is one of the most successful artists in the US just now, selling millions of albums. Although the lines can be very blurred these days, she has often been clased as "soul" and doesn't venture beyond midtempo often.

Duffy and winehouse have done amazingly worldwide. These singers sell very well, they haven't had #1s like leona has but they certainly can work internationally. Thats why i think rachel or laura stand a good chance with the right material.
I think Laura is just too similar to Amy. It's just staring you straight in the face when you watch her and listen to her but it won't work for her worldwide, IMO. Rachel would need one spectacular makeover to be a worldwide hit.
