Wow. That was some bad acting.
I'm talking about the scenes where the judges getting their groups. Just sooooo fake and badly acted. Why bother with that nonsense? It's as frivolous as the helecopters IMO. Does anyone believe they get the news that way?
And please don't start with the "It's ENTERTAINMENT" nonsense. The rest of the show is....THAT isn't. Well, maybe it is entertaining in how baaaaaaad it was performed. I think the producer was the worst. He sounded like a audio recording. "The. group. we. want. you. to. mentor. IS..." |

They have to give us the news somehow. We all know that Cowell almost certainly knew exactly what groups he and everyone else had and would have been sitting with the 4 producers we saw making the decision.
Tbh, I don't know why they wouldn't just give the rest of them the news the way that they showed us. It is of course quite possible they already knew what with this being TV, but even if they didn't it would still look the same. Each of them going into the EP's office? The same line being delivered, the judges giving an exaggerated reaction for the camera... The reveal of the categories is a big moment so they need to dress it up somehow. It wouldn't be satisfactory to have Dermot say over the credits "Simon got the boys, Danni got the oldies, Cheryl got the girls, Louis got the groups, see you next week." |

I thought they did it well last year. They were each given a card and went into a room to find the group they were responsible for.

The only issue with tonight for me was that Cheryl went a bit OTT. Richard Holloway gave them the news in a similar way to Dermot when he reads out the results of the public vote. I wasn't particularly expecting him to do an accent or tell a joke to make it less robotic! He was after all, meant to be the anonymous, faceless boss. Simon played smug as well as he always does and Dannii and Louis were fine. |

It was quite funny how they said "the producers decide who gets what category" considering Simon is actually a producer too

At least it was a very badly acted fun segment, unlike some other more-staged parts of this show sometimes.
But at least the part when they actually get the calls seemed pretty genuine. Cheryl's scream was OTT, but honest. The rest of it, though, like the other side of the line and the other phone calls were so shot separately and had voiceovers. Gotta love the magic of commercial television. |

all 'constructed scene for dramatic effect' should carry a health warning.. i'm embarrassed for the judges and the constestants when they are so obviously faking it

What was worse acting was the bit where Simon thought he made a mistake with Liam and asked for him to come back!!! They could at least have made the boys section a final 7 to make it more believable.

or maybe just maybe they were not acting?
Just because you think there's a flaw it must mean there is one not saying you're definately wrong, but you probably are |

The judges would still over react to the news purely because they are on TV. I'm quite aware of the fact that the scenes could have been acted, but I'm also not entirely sure why they wouldn't just tell them that way. |

Sometimes you forget that there actually are people that buy into this stuff wholesale. As long as they're around.... ![]() My lord. Say "It's entertainment" but PLEASE for the love of god don't embarass yourself by believing that happened as shown. Do you believe they arrived in helicopters too? |

I think it was ridiculously staged but I'm not sure if they already knew what they had.

They should just have some sort of tombola and take pot luck. They could start fighting over a piece of paper, Simon tugging on Louis' toupee, Louis tugging on Simon's wig, Dannii attempting a snarl (not managing to get so much as a frown)...it'd all be entertaining.

It was like Charlie's Angels. I was expecting Cheryl and Danni to suddenly appear in catsuits and squeal 'Hello Charlie' when the phone rang.
I would try to imagine Simon and Louis in catsuits too but I don't want nightmares.
