Did anyone see there was a contestant in a wheelchair in the room which got sent home at the end of Saturday's epsiode. I'm just suprised how we didn't see their auditions at all - X Factor usually uses disabilities as sob stories. I wonder why they didn't this year?

Yes I suppose that could be it. The only other thing I was thinking was maybe they didn't want to put him through and decided not to show him at all because they thought there would be backlash for not putting a disabled person through? Although that doesn't make much sense really.

Yeah we were like wahhh??? Id have thought they would have showed him.

What was shocking though is the people they lined Joelle up with when they told her she wasnt through. I swear ive seen none of them. Must be sad for them getting that far and not even getting a three second clip of their singing to show for it.

I probably put them off last year lol

I'm partially blind and have certain social difficulties due to a neuro condition called hydrocephalus. I got to boot camp last year but wasn't shown singing at all either. Although I had a fantastic time at my auditions and boot camp, there were cwrtain things I couldn't cope with - yep, you've guessed it, getting told "no"

Anyway, when I can't cope I really can't cope, and it would also have been difficult to show me because I didn't exit my boot camp audition correctly and have other odd mannerisms because of my low vision.....

I don't think my disabilities should have been reason enough for XF to show me, but as one of their decent boot campers, with a unique voice and personality, I think they should have shown me despite my disability!

I don't think they wanted to show me because they couldn't have taken me much futher, but because my story could have been quite big, a lot of people would have wondered what had happened to me if I was shown briefly and then never again.

Anyway, those are my experiences.....I didn't actually spot the guy in the wheelchair but maybe his voice was unremarkable and seeing as they've had disabled contestants and even finalists in the past, they didn't see any reason to show him. Maybe, like me, he has additional difficulties to his physical disability, and they decided it wouldn't be fair to take him any further.

I don't think they'd have dropped his story on his request alone though. As I've said many a time, I love the X Factor, but it's niot always the most considerate show in the world.....

Oh my goodness Faria ive got to tell you a similar story involving my mother. She used to be a backing singer and has a very soulful country voice, sounds very much like a cross between KD Lang and Alison Moyet. My mother went to the first auditions and the producers pulled her aside and she even had a very long interview done and was getting on very well with the team. Was singing for them and they were very impressed. She then told them about an illness she suffers from called ME. It's a mental illness which can make you feel very tired and drained all the time. Some days she can't get out of bed with it. She then went into the room to sing.. She did a couple of lines before the same producer woman stopped her with a very straight face and said "No sorry". I know not all good singers get through but to have all the interviews done and everything you would think she would have got through to the real judges at least. We think her illness really held her back.

Im worried because I want to enter next year. Im 18 and also suffer from ME but on a smaller scale. I also had agrophobia for a year and depression although thats all over now. I think it's something that might hold me back.

Im sorry you did not get any air time though Faria. Thats something about the show that really annoys me.

Who are you, XFisgr8? I might remember you being shown lol

Good luck if you do go back - to me boot camp actually looks tougher this year than ti did last year what with the 3 rooms twist etc, but maybe 2006 was a particularly tricky year lol!

Anyway, Divalicious - I don't like the sound of that story about your mum. I'd have loved to watch her doing well on the show. I did full interviews with the producers too, which we all enjoyed - the problem with me is that when I was told no, as a huge perfectionist I was prone to a tantrum or two, involving a lot of unbroadcastable language lol! I was only 16 then too. It's a shame because I can understand that it's all for TV and why the judges/producers made the decisions they did now that I'm calm and fully recovered, but at the time it verged on impossible

I hope that if you did audition and make it to boot camp they would do their best to accommodate your ME. I know a bit about it and I don't see why it should be enough of a reason fro them to let you go.

Not all good singers do get through, even those who have full interviews on several occasions, but I really hope you do, and that you get more airtime than I did
