One of the final nails in the coffin for Girls Aloud imho. Can't see why she would bother with it.

I have to say the same thing entered my head. If Cheryl signs a deal that stops GA toruing the USA then she has put her own career before that of the group and I can't see certain other member's of GA being too pleased with that. Not when they have the chance to forward themselves to an american audience, it's too big an oppertunity for them to miss really. I know if I was in GA and Cheryl stopped me going over there I wouldn't be too happy about it.

She may well agree to do the tour and then they'll split perhaps. Who knows. Maybe she could do both at the same time. Tours don't last an entire year.

No but they need planning, preparation and proper rehearsal otherwise you end up with the shame that was the Spice Girls reunion tour.

Hmmmm, the thing is, if Cheryl were to leave GA she'd better be sure of a TV or whatever career. She's never going to have a solo music career, she's not a great singer, is she? I do like Cheryl but she's not a great singer.

X Factor is 8 months of the year. A USA tour would take about 4 months for Girls Aloud as they are trying to crack the place, They can't just do a month long tour as they aren't successful enough over there for that and isn't it Jonas brother's they are touring with? So providing on the dates then I don't see how Cheryl could do both.

She'd have to make a choice and it's at the expense of the group sadly.

Maybe but that would still take up too much time but would be good promotion for the group. But doesn't AGT run at the same time X factor does? Sharon is busy with that right now isn't she?

I reckon GA are close to meltdown anyway. Nadine seems to have made the US her home and Sarah is also increasing her profile in her own right rather than as a member of the group. If they do split, I can see Cheryl and Sarah having successful TV careers, Nadine having (limited) success as a solo artist and Nicola and Kimberley disappearing off the radar.

I suppose the end is nearing for Girls Aloud, but I think they could survive without Cheryl. After all most people think Nadine is the talented singer in the group.

Yeah but GA are not well known tho for who they are though are they. Ask an average person to name just one member and the only one many would be able to list is Cheryl. She is their most famous and well known member. Without her they lose that.

I doubt there's any trith to this. It's probably just a way to get Dannii 'jealous' again

I seriously doubt they would give any of the judges a payrise before they even mentored a contestant.
Plus, they sign year by year, Simon said recently.
Like this year, Dannii Louis & Sharon signed the same year they were going to be on.

Sorry, I should not have tried speaking for everyone by saying most people think Nadine is the most talented singer when I have no proof about what most people think.

I do think Cheryl is well known, but the other girls have promoted stuff and appeared in the media and music videos, which will help them get more known. Nadine with Gillette, Sarah with that underwear thing and Nicola with her makeup range.

What a load of tosh. What is she known for? An unfortunate incident in a club toilet and a cheating husband. Wow! How would the group survive without her?

Sharon was able to do AGT last year as well as XF. Cowell has been back and forth throughout the summer from LA to London as he is Executive Producer of AGT (which takes more time than judging it).

But I can't see Cowell hiring Cheryl for AGT. The Geordie accent would be too much and she is totally unknown over there. The current panels are working well for him over there and over here.

The problem for GA is that when one person goes, these groups have a habit of crumbling. If the girls see Cheryl being made into a TV star by Simon, the likes of Nadine will be tempted to try a solo career or Sarah might want to pursue some kind of TV career as well. And Cheryl is the most known member, certainly now with her role on XF.

I suppose Syco could offer a compensation to GA... a TV show to find a 5th member.

Well she is known for X Factor for a start. 8 + million viewers. One of the top rated shows in the UK.

Not to mention her daily articles on the front pages.

So if that's tosh I must be in the wrong job.

She has only been in XF this series so hardly something that has sustained GA's popularity for the past 6 years, is it?

Her daily appearances on the front pages have been recently as a result of XF or of the less desirable type such as an alleged assault on another woman at the start of GA's career, allegations about her husband's dubious sexuality and more recently her husband sleeping with and impregnated another woman. Hardly day in day out over the past 6 years.

Where do Cheryl's fans get off thinking she is the centre of everybody's universe?

She seems to be the media darling because her husband cheated on her. Dannii's former husband also cheated on her but she's never talked about that.
I think it's a bit ridiculous that they're doing everything they can every day to come up with something that will make Dannii 'jealous'
Cheryl should gain popularity as a judge by being a good one and try to win The X Factor instead of trying to 'outshine' Dannii.

Very true. Dannii actually tried to keep the fact that her husband had cheated on her out of the papers and refused to talk about it on TV while she was trying to save her marriage instead of using it as a publicity tool.

I don't think those surrounding Cheryl can have much confidence in her ability to mentor the acts in her category and be successful as a judge if they have to stoop to the depths they are going to to make her appear queen of the show. Mind you, as successful mentors and good judges go, Cheryl doesn't exactly have a hard act to follow in Sharon.

X Factor official report:

The Mirror has been busy this week! They reckon that Cheryl Cole has been such a hit with Simon Cowell (and the viewers, of course) that the music mogul has offered the pop queen a massive £1million contract to stay in the show next year.

They quote an 'insider' saying, "He realises he will have to fight to keep her as Girls Aloud are in talks to do a US tour. So Simon needs to act fast and get her to sign before she has unavoidable commitments.

"As part of the package there's talk of involving her in another of Simon's shows. Cheryl is flattered."

It's not true! Has no-one noticed that along with daffodils blooming, talk of X Factor contracts always happens in spring every year? In any case, programme makers don't like to talk about hard cash in public. A spokeslady said, "We never discuss contracts - but we do hope that Cheryl will be back next year".

A Girls Aloud US tour? Of what, shopping malls? No one in America has heard of, much less cares about, Girls Aloud.

But good for Cheryl if she is getting a new deal to return to X Factor, she seems to have found a niche for herself. I think she's pretty good judge, she has some credibility for having been through a talent show and made something of herself, and she's nice to look at.
