When I was 15 I had a weekend job in burger king.
Lets just say I have never eaten their food since. The deep fat fryer that the chips are cooked in does not get cleaned, ever. One day the burgers were coming out semi-raw, and the guy on the burger board had been making them regardless, hence many unhappy customers that day ![]() Staff would tamper with the food for a 'laugh' e.g putting butterscoth sauce, and pieces of donut into the burgers. Sounds quite 'cliche' but I saw many burgers get dropped on the floor, before going through the boiler, and then picked up and used. Out of date buns were used. Burgers would remain in the steamer for hours and hours before use. The kitchen was disgustingly dirty too. Eat there at your own risk ![]() People would stand at the back of the broiler and throw the frozen burgers in, they'd clatter about all over the floor and just get picked up and thrown straight in. They burgers would sit in their buns in the steamer for, sometimes, 4 hours!! After it all, i'd still prefer to eat at Burger King than McD's, that must say something about McD's? |

Ahhh, you must live near me!
![]() The new one in St. Nick's Centre isn't bad in my opinion, actually ![]() The one in South Croydon (near where Beanos is) is terrible! It's nearly always empty and it's just, "mehhhh". The door leading to the toilets is always open and there's a table in front of it. Maybe that's why they served me dry and tastless burgers.![]() Quote:
I was actually in one in Sutton today (well the drive-through anyway
). The burger was pretty tasteless and the bun felt almost stale.

I have to second this comment. I too worked there when i was younger, and i know standards vary from place to place but it's exactly what went on in the place i worked.

My local BK seems clean enough, half of the floor space is for queues (although I've never seen that many people in there; that said I don't go there that much), there's about 3-4 stools and then about 5-6 tables. Despite that description, I'd say it is the size of two paper shops, and the service and food seems OK.
But the one at Waterloo - ye Gods - what a despicable place. I had taken my son to a nearby TV studios and after feeling peed-off at not seeing a particular show, an out-of-the-norm sit-in meal at a KFC/BK/McD was a request I didn't mind fulfilling as there seems no other restaurant around. So we went there and I guessed they would be pretty busy considering the location in the station right by the platform and it was the school holidays, so we had to play 'find the menu' on our own. Found it and had the shout the order over many heads twice. The staff was bloody miserable, I guess this may be because of the busy-ness but that wasn't my fault and for goodness sake, they work at a Central London branch - expect it! We went upstairs - it was nasty. The amount of people there and interchange of people leaving and coming to sit at a table was too quick and too much for the one poor worker that was there half of the time. There were flies buzzing round the place because the floor was so grimy and there were bits of food on the tables that the one worker had not got to yet; we used some hand wipes that I had in my bag to clean the table, it was just 'mank'. When we left the table, we did our part in not leaving our mess but there were no bins to put it in. We took it downstairs and again no bin but to met with looks of disapproval from the staff, I guess this was due to not leaving it for the cleaner or for taking the initiative. I would have to be on the run or my stomach would had to be dribbling on the floor for hunger before I step in there again, and if I did - strictly for takeaway only. Last edited by myss : 30-09-2008 at 18:55. Reason: I do like their chips though - no need for salt! |

What did the management say when you reported the behaviour you saw?

The food in ours (Watford) seems OK but the place itself is filthy, sticky & grimy tables and seats, I once took the kids when they were little and vowed never again. We sometimes get take out but eating in is not pleasant.

I haven't been in there for years, not since I worked in there!
![]() In defence of BK, they can't help that a customer came in stinking of BO. I hate it when customers moan about a mess made by another customer, I'm sure the staff do what they can, but some people are just gross and trash the place. I get it a lot where I work, someone chucks food all over the floor, I go and get all the cleaning stuff, and before I've had a chance to get to it I have another customer in my face complaining about the mess. Give me a chance!
