Sony Walkman with iTunes - Surely not?

Hey.

Just been looking at Sony Walkmans on Amazon and came across this.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-NWZ-S63...2717602&sr=1-6

Check out the description.

Use Windows Media Player 11, Windows Explored or iTunes to transfer your content and Podcasts by drag and drop.

But i thought only iPods worked with iTunes? Does this mean this player will show up in the iTunes DEVICES section and sync with my libary?

If so, that's fantastic

My Sony Walkman I used sonicstage which came with it - similar concept to itunes just not as good - never even tried with itunes I presumed it would only work with sonicstage.

you can drag and drop songs directly from itunes into a folder in xplorer etc... im assuming it just means that - doesnt say you can sync with itunes.

Has this thread been re-opened and some posts deleted? I can't seem to find the itunes thread that was closed, so I guess this must be it. Hmmn, the link's not working either, so something's up. Anyway, when I visited the webpage through the link last night, I noticed that in the features it stated that you could drag FROM itunes and then drop them into your MP3 player window, which doesn't necessarily mean that the player is going to have itunes on it, but just that you could drag from itunes and then drop to your player. Ipods can be interactive with itunes directly, but I'm getting the impression that Sony are just telling you that you can only drag from itunes and then drop into your window, which I'm presuming will happen if you double click on the icon in my computer. I don't really think they meant that it has itunes on at all really.

It doesn't really say the player interacts with the itunes software, but only that you can drag and drop.

you can use most mp3 players that show up as an external drive with iTunes by using iTunesAgent http://ita.sourceforge.net/

Quite why you'd want to, is another matter...

Apparently so. I heard this on the MP3 Insider podcast. It is surprising as Sony are renowned for being closed and getting people to use their software and formats. The early Sony players didn't even play MP3. It is a smart move by Sony. They know they can't beat iTunes, so just offer the option so people can use iTunes. It is like Apple knowing they can't beat Windows so made it so you could run Windows on a Mac too.

Reason I want it is because all my album art and metadata is perfect in iTunes, if i drag it to WMP it becomes a right mess, with weird Genres flying all over the shop.

I think I may as well go for the touch.
Thanks anyway guys.
