iPod nano 4th gen video

Hi all

I recently got myself an iPod nano 4th gen and I have been trying to convert movie files to play on it to give me somethnig to watch on the commute.

I downloaded a programme from download.com called Jodix Free ipod video converter.

It will convert my files to iPod format with no problem and the iPod will allow me to transfer them on via iTunes (unlike if you try to transfer say a wmv file when it says it is not compatible) but when you try to play it the screen goes black and the iPod freezes. You have to hold down the centre button and menu button to reset it.

Is there something I am doing wrong here or is there a limit on the file size a nano can play?

I was trying to put a 45min episode of SG1 on there.

Thanks in advance.

What format are the videos in?

My Archos lets me transfer Windows System files, but it don't play them!

They are all in mpg or avi format, the software I have will only let you convert them if it knows wat they are and you have the codecs for it.

They should be converted to h.264 I beleive but it only allows you to convert to iPod friendly formats.
