Are you cleaning the carpet properly? It's possible they can smell it and it's become their patch. Dogs often toilet in the same area.

I don't really know anything about dogs but my elder brother has a yorkie puppy he got about 6 months ago and if he couldn't get out he'd wee under the door because it was as close as he could get to where he was suppost to do it!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the general thing was just to watch them all the time and move them to where you want them as soon as they start to show signs of toileting?

A good scrub of the part of the carpet that the pup's using with a solution of biological washing powder should deal with this.

OP, you'll notice as well that before your dog toilets, he'll start sniffing at the ground. That should be your cue to shift him to his designated toilet area straight away.

Good luck
