Library unusable
Scorpio

On my brother's 6300 it has programs in the library but just entering the library renders the box dead requiring a power off/on.

It is usable as a digibox and can plan further recordings but it says the disk is full (cant be as there are only about 5 short recordings).

You can t get to delete any as going into the library kills the box.

Going into help suggests there is 66% free space but trying to record the current program suggests disk is full.

Is there a full system reset or equivalent to reset to factory option etc as this is driving him (and me!) nuts.

Is this a return to seller job? Much easier with Sky+, lol!

You have a corrupt programme in the recorded items list and it is most likely to be the top one so that when you open Recorded Items it tries to play the video stream in the top window. If you go into Menu -> Setup -> Help -> type 1397 you will get into the engiineers menu, go to option 7 'Disable library video window' and flip it to yes then exit and fo to Library. It should now display the list and you can delete the top one.

many thanks trevor, is there also access to things like 'full system reset' or 'housekeeping' in this engineers menu as there is on my Sky HD box?

These options aren't in the Engineers option
But there is a hidden Advanced Information menu which allows you to Restore Factory Defaults, Revert Software versions (if code images 1 & 2 are different) and Format the HDD.

Obviously formatting the HDD will lose everything, so this would be a last resort.

To access this screen:

Menu > 4 Setup > 6 Help > Green button on remote
