Cat off his food
ZListersMustDie

My 12 year old persian (Rocky) is off his food at the moment (despite trying various brands / flavours), but seems to be drinking a lot more water than he usually does.

He is also quite lethargic, and hasn't been leaving the house as much as he used to.

Any ideas as to what it may be, or would you suggest a trip to the vet ?

Thanks in advance

It could be that he's munched on something that's disagreed with him, but yes; a trip to the vets is what I'd advise on really. Sooner rather than later if you can.

Hope he's well again soon. xx

Agree, definately get the little fella off for a check up. Cats can be faddy like this and seem to get worse as they get older. Mine had many phases throughout her more twilight years of just what you describe. However, drinking more water than is normal for your cat can indicate a problem. Always best to be on the safe side to give you peace of mind or sort out what could be a simple little problem

It could be all manner of things. I found my cat off her food the other day and I did not know why until I noticed that above her bowl was a hook on which was the kitchen towel, tea towels and an oven glove.

The poor little mite was too scared to eat in case they dropped on top of her and so I had to do a little bowl rearranging and put it in a different place.

At 12 it could be old age and you might find Rocky is not getting the same nutrients so you may need a different diet from the vets.
