If it isn't connected to the PC does it actually work or is it freezing even then?

I had an issue with my old Go510 when I did a firmware update. At first it refused to play the game. However it was still talking to the PC, though not very obviously.

In TomTom Home there is an option to remote control the sat nav from the PC. It may or may not work but what I had to do was remote control the device with home, browse the map for a minute or two anything like that. Then switch it off and back on again and it all started working fine again.

Mind you if it won't even talk to home when connected to the PC you may be in trouble. If you are really unlucky you may have to deal with TomTom Customer Support to get it fixed. Good luck with that

As I recall my 510 reacted like that, however if I fired up TomTom Home it would respond to that. Might be worth having a go and see if Home can talk to it.

I have known TomTom's require several resets in a row to get them back to life. So always worth sticking a pin in the reset hole a few times when it's turned off and see if that has any effect.

But if resetting it and Home can't get it back to life then you may be forced to use TomTom's Support. I've been there myself and am forced to wonder if they actually understand the concept of Customer Support at all. My experience of them is that you go round and round in circles repeating your self over and over again and they simply cannot grasp the problem.

OK it was a few years ago and you have to hope they have improved, but from what I read on a specialist Sat Nav forum I use regularly I don't think they have changed hugely and Support is still by far the worst thing about TomTom. Shame it's nowhere near as good as their products.
