Calls via Tiscali - one way distortion

Any ideas, seems to be outgoing calls via Tiscali to BT numbers, the called person cannot hear the caller clearly?

BT say contact Tiscali, Tiscali say contact BT.

Have you done the obvious and tried a different phone instrument? And have you called non-BT customers, eg a mobile to see if the problem is global or only affecting BT users?

Oh and the company that needs to sort it out if you establish it's a line fault is the one you pay line rental to. If that is Tiscali then you ONLY deal with Tiscali. Don't let them fob you off with getting you to call BT. If you do not rent the line from BT and do not pay BT any money then it is Tiscali and only Tiscali that should be talking to BT.

Yeah, if line rental is with Tiscali then it is only Tiscali that can sort the problem out - even though that means passing the work onto BT (Open Reach) problem is Tiscali don't want to pay to get BT (Open Reach) to come out hence it can be a nightmare getting them to sort problems out.

I'm convinced it's an interconnect problem between BT and Tiscali. Must be others affected.

But have you done any tests to eliminate the chances of it being your line or equipment?

That is going to be pretty much the first thing Tiscali will ask you. So best to do the tests before hand then you stand a better chance of getting Tiscali to do something (then again may be not...)

Yes, dial BT number via Tiscali - distortion.

Dial BT number prefixing with 1280 to send through BT - no distortion.

Repeatable.

Sounds like the problem is the way Tiscali are routing the calls as your calls to the exchange are fine, it's from the exchange when it hits Tiscali's equipment somewhere from the exchange onwards there is the problem.

Yes, must be, but how to convince Tiscali?
