That guy who crys a lot, was in a fake boy turned girl band on channel 4 a coupe of years ago. Now he turns up on this show and is one of the shows big hitters.

Is it just me who thinks the production company are up to there old tricks again? Perhaps sticking in a guy with a sad story and pretty face ect.. knowing it will get more print in the press and thats publicity.

Its been a con from after the large girl won pop idol. The mangement dont want people who are not off the moment so they only put them throught who are gonna sell at the time.

Just look back at all the stories off past acts who knew someone who knew Simon and Co.

It does seem very odd that these connections to judges pop up so often. Somthing is going on for sure.

I really feel that we don't need to know about the contestants personal lives. Fair enough a wee bit about them like their singing ambitions and if they had auditioned for X Factor before. But not about their private lives.

Well I hope we haven't yet got to the stage where X-Factor is just a way for Simon Cowell to find out which of the acts he is considering signing are likely to popular with the public.

But I think we have got to the stage where it's a PR exercise for some acts that are about to be launched anyway.

I'd imagine there are certain people told to go to the auditions but I don't think anyone is promised any place in the later stages. Quite simply, because the show doesn't need them as much as they would need the show. I'd also suggest purely from common sense that turning up and saying "I used to have a record deal" or "I was on another music RTV show" sets off some alarm bells that will get you more attention.

The auditions are packed with people wanting a music career. Many of the ones who actually have some talent will already have been trying to get into the industry or attended stage schools. And once you are in, it can be very easy to "connect" people.

Agreed. I'm sick of sob stories like Alan Turner's. He's working so hard to make the audience feel sorry for him that he must not rate his actual talent very highly in my view.

Of course this is exactly what it is. Press were implying yesterday that another 'ringer' like Leona has been planted this year. Surprise, surprise they don't appear to be one of those being hailed on here yet - no doubt will emerge in the live shows

Well Austin was in a boyband that supported Westlife, Blazin Squad, Girls Aloud...etc, then his bandmate at the time had a well publicised fling with Cheryl, then he was offered a deal by Louis (but couldn't sign cos he was still under contract to another management company), then he was on a national reality tv show with other 'celebrity singers', then he got to bootcamp last year, now the judges act like he's the best thing since sliced bread and none of them have seen him before.....either they are suffering from a big case of amnesia or they think the public are stupid or gullible....now where's the con in all that?

Austin's 'personality' on the show is a joke and a million miles from his true personality which is arrogant and cocky. He's been in this business (albeit at the bottom level) for a looong time, he has just learnt how to play the game, pass the kleenex someone.......

... there are a few ringers, always are. They don't want people outside the industry and obviously telling their favourite unsigned people to audition is an easy way to getting them to the top, because the show doesn't have as high a standard as a record company showcase would. The hype of the show can then carry them, less pressure.

The whole idea of the Alan guy being "grilled" by Cowell was a set up, obviously the producers thought they needed to address the storys and they did a quick skit, and if Cowell says he "believes" him, the public will go with it. How could it have been spontaneous, he led him over to a pre-set up sofa set, all lighted and ready.

If you look at the final 12 spoilers, you can tell how fake the show is. Most of the ones on it, during this show tonight have the judges being "not sure about" or the contestants performances being "sold" to the public as maybe not good enough - and then tommorow night u get all the suprises they really made it.

The judges don't seem to be the only ones with short memories - Susie seems to have forgotten she was a pop star before.

All of the contestants tonight have fallen into the category of "not sure about" apart from Austin who Simon pratically said was through. For all it is obviously because they need to hold the drama for the actual result, the contestants have made it very easy because none of them have really given an exceptional performance.

Obviously some have been better than others. The producers and judges will know who faves are before they even sing at the judges houses tho.

Something i noticed, they filmed the judges houses after the first few X-Factor shows had aired (as we see from Cowell's talk with Alan). So i guess the producers can also get general feedback about who the public likes before they decide on final 12 too.

There is a clip on the XF website where he talks about it. He says that basically last year they said to him that they didn't feel that he was taking it seriously enough - hence this year his new attitude and buckets of tears.

He is also very briefly shown in the Xtra Factor Bootcamp episode from last year.

I would expect there to be people with histories and connections. If nobody has a musical history or connection then clearly they haven't been trying very hard.

That thought occurred to me too. They will have checked out forums such as this one to see what kind of impression various acts have made.

The whole things a fix, doesn't everyone realise that?

Just look how quickly the acts that Simon does like get dropped after they win the final.
