& why do they do it!!!?

Drives me insane!!!

My dog is probably one of the most well looked after animals ever!

I could have just come in from an hour and a half’s walk with him, where he’s been off the lead most of it running as he wishes….

He then gets treats to go into the garden… but I find him either sat out there with his head down and body hunched having a sulk or in the living room! As if he hasn’t been out for a fortnight!!!

I then feel very guilty as if I should take him back out when I really do not feel like it!!!

Never had the pleasure of a dog but my cat could and does sulk for England. He sure can get a monk on and woah betide anyone who gets in his way when he's on one

Haha.
I'm glad I am not the only one with a spolit pet then!

He really does put his head right now and takes the odd glance at you from the corner of his eye!

You're very lucky if that's ALL he does, lol

Our cat will take a flying leap at your legs and box the **** out of your feet and ankles with his paws when he's in a mardy!

My last dog used to sulk. I remember when we had to go away somewhere urgently at last minute, so we reluctantly had to leave him with a family friend for a few nights. He had known this friend for years, and loved her to bits when she visited, yet when we returned he was in a right bad mood! To begin with he was really pleased to see us, but once he got home he went really grumpy for a few days to make the point that he didn't appreciate being left behind! Bless him

My new puppy isn't so sulky (yet). I think they get more set in their ways as they grow up. My new lil fella is just 24/7 hyper about absolutely everything at the moment! At the grand old age of 1, he really should be growing out of that phase by now lol...

She sure does! If one of the cats dares to sit in "her" chair she'll be like

She also huffs when she's annoyed Her nickname is Princess Huffypants

Oh our dog when she was left behind whilst the husband went hillwalking used to totally blank me (my fault obviously for him leaving her, nothing to do with her age or anything) and the minute he walked through the door she would be all over him but still blank me!!! Figure!

God yes, and the sighs he does are just awful.
Hes like having a stroppy teenager sometimes, and then looks at me with his big brown eyes, and I feel so guilty.

But then I guess thats what hes trying to achieve.

Does anyone else get the long faces and puppy dog eyes when you put your shoes on to go out and don't dig their lead out for them to come too?! Haha, it's half amusing, half uncomfortable!!

Ahh yes I forgot about the big old sighs to go with it!

& yes I do feel awfully guilty going anywhere and not taking him! As soon as I go in to get any coat, any shoes, he's raring too go! So I then have to promise I will bring him presents home and he'll stand there giving me the big sad eyes

<btw I always take him for a long walk before I go out anyplace anyway!>

My dogs a terrible sulker..if we have to go out, we leave himwith my mum and dad, where incidently he loves to go, is spoilt rotten and has a whale of a time. When we get back...he goes and sits with mum and dad and won't "speak to" us for ages. he just keeps giving us evil looks from under his eyes.

Also, if hubby and I are sitting on the sofa of an evening, usually with the cat on hubbys lap, he sits in his bed with his nose burried, looking at us, like he is so hard done by..we call him over, and he comes reluctantly with a kind of "are you sure you really want me" look on his face...

The thing is..we do the same thing most evenings...and he's never been stopped him from getting up on the sofa with us..but he still manages to make me feel guilty just looking at him

My dog used to sulk all the time. Especially if his walk was out of routine. He would even starve himself than miss a walk. Used to curse but miss him so much since he passed.

Ooooh, yes! We used to call our old dog 'Sad Sack' because of it!

And she was thoroughly spoiled too!

Charlie (our border collie) only sulks if he's not out running around he gets at least 3 hours outside every day and sill guilt trips us the entire time he's indoors.

we had a friend (who he loves to death) dog-sitting him and he gave him a massive complex! Thought the dog was trying to emotionally manipulate him...which I guess he was.

They have evolved to know what makes us do what they want - it's Darwinism at it's moost trivial.

That whole big eyed, head tilt when they want some of your dinner - that's another one I reckon.

ohhhh yes all 3 of mine sulk - big time especially if their dinner is not on the dot of 1/2 4 - i swear they can tell the time. Or if the cat lies in their bed

My mum lives abroad and whenever she comes over to visit she puts her dogs in kennels. These kennels are really nice and the dogs are spoilt rotten.

When they go to pick them up one of the dogs is really pleased to see my parents, really giddy and jumpy. The other one is like that with my dad. She absolutely refuses to go near my mum for at least a day afterwards. She just throws herself about sighing and moaning.

That dog is such an old woman! She could sulk competitively.

Yes, he sulks when he drops his toys and he's sitting on the sofa. He looks at me as if to say "Mum pick it up please. Now!"

LOL My mam's dog is the same but in a different way of sulking. If Mam tells her off, she is very defiant (she's a westie) and woofs then goes into the other room and gets one of her toys out of the pile and takes it back to my mam in the kitchen and shakes it like hell as if to say 'how dare you tell me off!' When she gets told off the toy gets it!

our old springer used to be terrible - she would sulk as soon as the suitcase came out for when we went on hols - then would be a delight for my uncle when he came to look after her. We would come home, be ignored for a day or two (except at feeding time obviously! )

Our Yorkie sulks when Mum and Dad goes to work she just goes and sit on the sofa and curls to keep looking at you with her brown eyes to see where we are.

When are going out she comes toddling around after us checking we are getting her lead and then she sulks when we don't take her out, and then guilt trips us when we come back when we're not taking her out for a walkas one of the first things we do when we get in lol.

She also develops a limp when she sees bigger dogs as well and is expected to be picked up lol

My dog has been out most of the day with a family member probably chasing rabbits so hopefully no sulking when he gets in!
