Wireless Surround Sound systems?
Hey all
My Sony Surround sounds system has given up on me...and now that I have wooden floors in my lounge there is no hiding any horrible wires to rear speakers. Are there any reasonable priced systems withs wireless speakers...or at least wireless rear ones!! |

Think about it. How are you going to make a noise from the wireless speakers. You will need a receiver for the wireless signal and an amplifier to drive the speaker.
Which means you need a power source. So unless you want to invest in a shed load of batteries that means mains. So if you have to run mains leads to the speakers you may as well run ordinary speaker cable. |

The main unit send a radio signal carrying the rear speakers infor to the back of the room where a reciever, that is connected to the mains, converts the signal into an amplified output that powers the rear speakers.
This means that at the back of the room there will be 3 wires (1 power, 2 speaker) replacing the 2 speaker wire that most systems use to get the sound to the back of the room. |

What did you do with the speaker cables for your old Sony system?
If they are in place, just use them for the new speakers. We have 4 sockets behind the sofa where we would put the wireless speakers (and amp by the sound of things!) so thats fine.. How much am I looking at....? |
