Now on Digital Spy's TV Guide:
The X Factor: Live Show 1
Saturday 11th October at 7:15pm on ITV 1
After weeks of auditions, two days of boot camp and make-or-break performances at the judges' houses, the final 12 acts have been chosen - and now the competition really begins. Dermot O'Leary presents as the hopefuls perform live on TV for the first time, singing UK and US number ones in a bid to win viewers' votes and impress the judges, who will each be siding with their own acts while no doubt giving their frank opinions of the others. The result can be seen at 10pm.

The X Factor: Live Show 1 - The Results
Saturday 11th October at 10:00pm on ITV 1
Last year's winner Leon Jackson performs his new single, before Dermot O'Leary reveals the viewers' verdict, putting the two acts with the fewest votes at the mercy of the judges in the first sing-off of the series. It was at this point last year that Sharon Osbourne walked out and refused to vote when two of her acts landed in the bottom two. Whether this outcome will be equally dramatic remains to be seen.
So confirmation that the Live Show Results are on Saturday evenings!

Apologies if already posted.

Was the second show always shown at 10?

Wasn't in 7-8 and then 9-10?

It varied week to week, some were 9.30 and some 10, or even later in some cases (I think the first live show was particularly late because of the Rugby World Cup).

I'm sure the second show only lasted half an hour in all weeks except the final.

Thanks for that. I am just glad the results show will be shown on the same night.

It's just because of the football.

The first live show actually started two weeks after the judges house week when the Final 12 were picked. So a week's live show was missed last year.

That's interesting. I wonder if this means that they'll drag out the results even more or if they've got something planned?

Week 1 11/10/08 Leon Jackson
Week 2 18/10/08 Girls Aloud
Week 3 25/10/08 Mariah Carey? possibly to tie in with the Hero release by all 12 finalists
Week 4 02/10/08 Leona Lewis

I thought Girls Aloud would be on the 25th?

And Boyzone might get a slot, I was expecting them in week 2.

Is this just for the first Live Show Results? Or for all of them?

Because if the former, they might have extended it so that they can have all 12 perform the charity single in one segment of the show, Leon perform in another segment, and then the sing-off in the final part of the show.

Only reason I think they'll perform the charity single on the first show is that all 12 will still be involved in the competition at that point - it would look a bit silly bringing one or two of them back if they're performing it on the 2nd or 3rd results show.

After Ronan Keating has just opened his gob about Dannii....I can't see any appearance from Boyzone (zzzzzz) being pleasant on XF.

I wonder what they will do with the extra time? Most of last years ran about 35 minutes and I expect that ITV will fill 4 out of the additional 10 minutes with adverts.

Then I think they will add some chat with the judges and contestants to fill the remaining time.

I wish they wouldn't because it just means that out of about 32 minutes of the show, half of it will be padding.

We know Leon is on next week and Girls Aloud has been confirmed - it's on their official website with the news their single release has been moved forward a week to be immediately after the X-Factor performance. Leona releases on the 3rd November (moved back a week).

We know the final 12's Hero song is being released on the 26th/27th October and in the press this morning was this:

"Hero will be released in aid of the Army charity Help For Heroes. Mariah, 38, who scored a hit with the song in 1993, is due to be a special guest on the ITV show in the coming weeks. Cowell and fellow judges Cheryl Cole, 25, Dannii Minogue, 36, and Louis Walsh, 56, will get their acts to perform songs by Mariah."

Forgot that Britney has been confirmed as well - not sure which week.

The charity single is being performed on October 25, so Mariah Carey will probably perform then. Wasn't Rhydian confirmed for late November, and is the Bond night happening or not?

Britney has been confirmed as December, so if they're having the final on 13th in order to allow them to go for the Xmas #1, then that only gives 2 shows that she could be on.

Interesting that they're having Mariah week - they done this on AI and they picked some of her most obscure songs for the most part. Hope its a lot better on X Factor but Mariah week worries me given the technical difficulty of a lot of the songs.

Agreed. 30 minutes works fine. 45 minutes seems like a bit much unless they do a Strictly and get them to do a group performance or something. I'm sure Fame Academy used to do stuff like that.

Dunno. I think it might be for all of them.

Perhaps they will have a group performance and some chatter with the judges, a bit like American Idol? Not my cup of tea, but I don't think 10 mins extra will be too bad for the average viewer.

Rhydian will be appearing on 22nd November. This is confirmed on his official site.

Fortunately it won't be as bad as the Strictly results show that I caught, they'd need to make it an hour and 20 minutes (including adverts) to match that!

But I hope we don't get group performances. They are always so ghastly and cheesy on American Idol. Although at least they aren't as bad as the cringeworthy Ford product placements.
