Leona us mixed race, also has a lighter voice. Both factors appeal- across cultures imo. Same goes for jordin sparks.
Alex is technically the best singer, but laura has the best voice, better range and more interesting to me. Not convinced she would sell as well as laura either.

The standard was awful last year, much much better this year.
