Is it just me?

His jazz hands totally distract me from the dancing, and appear HUGE because of all his waving around

starting to annoy me

Yep, he needs to sort those out.

The windmill look is also irritating.

They look all splayed and massive.

Didn't think Austin's looked much better either..or Mark's..the list could go on!

To be honest I don't understand all the praise regarding Tom's performance.

I thought it looked untidy and far too camp.

9's? I don't think so.

Couldn't agree more Sid- it was nowhere near as good as the judges were making out- I can only think they thought they had to make it seem more like a close competition

Camilla's choreography and choice of music was poor as it often is for Latin IMO and I find him really camp too

Austins was I think by far the best mens jive of any of the series

Snap!

I made a similar comment over on the Beeb.

Austin is head and shoulders above the rest. This rivalry the show is trying to concoct between him and Tom is so contrived.

I'm not a professional dancer and even I could see that Austin's Jive was far superior.

I think Toms a really good dancer, i was impressed with him tonight but Camilla did him no favours picking that silly song for a jive and the choreography was just weird.

I agree - didn't think he was very good - Austin was far better!

Agree completely, for me Don was edging it for second place. There was no way that was one mark off Austin's jive. Craig had it spot on, awful song choice as well

I think the hand thing is something lost of the men take a few weeks to get the hang of. I agree his hands are certainly no worse than any of the others, imo.

I thought for week two we have to give credit were it is due, but I could not help but notice Tom's hands the whole way through that routine they were all over the place and very off putting...and for Arlene not too mention them when all she ever does is moan about hands to me says what is that about....they are much more noticeable than the likes of Matt Dawson or Darren Gough...

Glad that I'm not the only one to think this. Very 'Carry on Jiving!'

Couldn't agree more, did NOT understand the marks for Tom at all, thought it was a poor man's version of Austin's. Really taken aback by the judges on that one.

Thank you for this thread OP because his hands were annoying me last night as well. I was surprised that Arlene didn't point this out to him as she's normally a stickler for things like this. IMHO Tom should have been third last night as there were a lot of errors overlooked by the judges which would have been hammered if they had been made by one of the less favourable dancers.

Did any of the judges mention Tom's hands? I can't recall...I know Craig mentioned Austin's though

To be honest, I thought Tom's jive was a lot more natural than Austin's.
I think the judges overmarked both of them, but Austin's definately wasn't as good as they thought. He was quite uneasy and kept on looking at Erin for what to do.

Nope, they didn't. I really thought they would have done because they were all over the place (and I'm not having a dig at Tom, he is one of my favourites). His hands were crazy though, and I pointed this out to those I was watching with, but when the judges didn't mention it, I thought it was just me picking faults with people - so I was glad to come on here and find that I wasn't alone!

Agreed, agreed, agreed, agreed!!!!!! Weirdest jive I've ever seen, and I couldn't believe the marks he got for it. He wasn't bad , but nowhere near a 9 standard!

And very pervasive. Two weeks of ITT and twice they've mentioned "the rivalry". Funny that Austin doesn't seem to be wanting to play that game, or at least I've never heard him mention Tom much on the VT pieces they've shown us.

I thought Tom was at a great standard for week two - and Austin was outstanding for week two. Sure, they're both still flawed, but that gives them room to progress.

I agree with the hands comment. I think I was most bothered by Mark's at the beginning of his dance, but Tom's were a bit dodgy too.

I hate the rivalry thing. I'm trying to ignore it, but I was aware last night that it was putting me off Tom despite myself. I wish the programme would drop it.

I'm holding off deciding what I think of Tom (as a dancer, he seems a sweet bloke) until next time, when they must be doing a ballroom. That will give Tom something to act, and will give Tom and Camilla the opportunity to dance with each other rather than at the audience (if you know what I mean, I'm not a dancer so not sure how to explain it). I think that will really suit them, and they'll be very good. Camilla has a superb track record with teaching ballroom. For me chemistry between the two of them is what they lack, but I think a ballroom dance will give them the chance to show it.

I agree completely with your comments. I too am looking forward to their ballroom for the reasons you mention. In fact, the only dance I feel anxious about is the tango (ballroom), purely because I hated Camilla's choreography for Gethins. Otherwise, looking forward to the AS, Quickstep and Waltz.

The judges over scored Austin. So I suspect to equal that they over scored Tom. Especially Bruno!

Plus the judges wantto protect these two as they are the only men that can actually dance (although Don could be a challenger).
