“X FACTOR DRUGS PROBE
X Factor favourite Rachel Hylton will be hauled before show bosses this week after claims she took drugs at boot camp.

It is alleged that former crack addict Rachel smoked cannabis on more than one occasion in the London hotel where she and the other contestants were staying during filming.

Rachel, 26, is said to have lapsed back into her old ways because of the enormous pressure of the show.

But judge Simon Cowell - who has fully supported her despite her previous drug admissions - will be stunned to hear about the allegations.

A source said: "This is the last thing Simon or the other judges will be expecting to hear.

"In August, when Rachel admitted her horrific teen life of drug addiction, crime and under-age sex, she said that it was all in the past and that she had turned over a new leaf.

"Simon thought she deserved a second chance and told everyone 'If someone says they've done things they regret, you have to give them a second chance'.

"But if these claims are founded, who knows what he'll think or what will happen. She may even be forced off the show."

The drug allegations were revealed as it also emerged mum-offive Rachel reduced rival Ruth Lorenzo to tears.

Stressed-out Rachel flew off the handle after the Spanish beauty asked her to stop smoking cigarettes in the room they were sharing.

Rachel was so aggressive that PR girl Ruth was terrified of being in the same bedroom and even begged researchers to keep them apart.

Ruth, 25, was moved to another room and Rachel was warned that cigarette smoking was forbidden in the hotel room.

The bitter feud could lead to a difficult atmosphere on the live shows if BOTH singers in the over-25 category get through to the final 12 after tonight's show.

It has also raised concerns that the single mum-of-five who has been jailed twice might lose her temper again as the pressure mounts.

Our source said: "Everyone felt so sorry for Ruth. She's a lovely, polite woman but Rachel just reduced her to tears. She was a wreck.

"Rachel says she's turned her life around, but she's not the big softie she makes out to be.

"People are scared of her. Ruth felt intimidated."

Ruth told pals she felt like she was walking on eggshells when they shared the hotel room during boot camp.

She feared Ruth would lose her temper and explode. Just two nights into the weeklong stay they had the row and Ruth asked show bosses if she could move.

"Rachel is hard work," said a show insider.

"Poor Ruth was scared that she would erupt and unleash that temper at any minute.

"Ruth was biting her tongue but Rachel was being unbearable. She was smoking constantly, chatting loudly on her phone all the time and had the TV blaring while Ruth was desperately trying to practice her vocals.

"In the end Ruth politely asked her to turn the TV down, but then Rachel just went mad. She screamed at Ruth to stop ordering her around, was barking insults at her and was not letting Ruth get a word in.

"Poor Ruth was really shaken and burst into tears."

Ruth ran out to speak to the show's researchers. She begged for a new room so she didn't have to be near the reformed convict.

"She was too upset to tell anyone exactly what Rachel had said," revealed the source.

"But it was so loud everyone knew who the main aggressor was.

"Ruth had tears streaming down her face and asked staff to get her a new room. She was too scared to be near Rachel at all. No one blamed her. She moved rooms the next day.

"Ruth is very big-hearted and down-to-earth so she will try to make amends at some stage but right up until they went to the judges' houses, there was still tension bubbling under the surface."

Both singers were among the six over-25s taken to mentor Dannii Minogue's house in Cannes.

Viewers will see tonight if they and fellow favourite, widower Daniel Evans, can beat mum Louise Heatley, ex-411 singer Suzie Furlonger, and X Faker Alan Turner to be the three over-25s in the final 12. Rachel has already been made favourite to win the show after she bared her soul about turning her life around.

The single mum revealed how she was expelled at 11, pregnant at 12, on crack by 13 and heroin shortly after.

She admitted shoplifting and mugging to fund her addiction and was jailed for the first time at 18 for attempted burglary.

Her first three children were taken into care but it was when she gave birth to the fourth, son Tishon, that she finally managed to kick drugs.

She says she is now a happy full-time mum with Tishon and daughter Tashanee.

She told how after having Tishon, six, and Tashanee, four, she had been able to kick ALL drugs for good.

Speaking about her success, she said: "It's another thing to keep me off drugs. I am so glad X Factor decided not to throw me away even though I have a past."

But Rachel has not been able to curb her temper.

On last week's boot camp show she was nearly axed after answering back Simon Cowell.

She returned and apologised the next day. But it was only after a telling off from her MUM.

"Rachel looked contrite on the TV, but the person who really made her see the error of her ways was her mum," said a show insider.

"Rachel had been on the phone boasting to her about what she said to Simon.

"But her mum told her she was a very stupid girl.

"It seems Mrs Hylton is the only one who can keep Rachel's fiery temper in check."

Last night an X Factor spokeswoman said: "Producers are unaware of the drug allegations but will speak to Rachel about them this week."”

I doubt it is true to be honest.

Let's not forgot all the lies printed about Rhydian last year throughout the show.

I was thinking the same. But then, Rhyd was never accused of stuff as bad as this. Arrogant diva rumours, but nothing at all like this.

Let's hope it is rubbish and is exposed as such very, very quickly. If it's not...well, it won't be good for Rachel. In fact, I would say even if not true, this is very damaging, since people will believe it. Rachel will need to be humility itself on the live shows. This will be one huge PR job.

As for Ruth....well, she's got a sob story now. And this will be whether the story is true or not...great. I'm not a fan of Ruth at all.

Well, whether it's true or not, the kids sure keep the X-Factor PR team busy. Now look at this thing:

Yes, it is News of the World, and like all of the other stories that have been out so far, I have no idea what to believe and I think I'm going to try to ignore them as much as possible, but my God, they are a handful.

Hardly. But I'd hate to judge someone over one story which I have no idea how true it is and was printed on News of the World, who didn't even bother with the basics of journalism (like using more than one source, or getting a response from the other side). And yet, once it's out (see the Alan case) the damage is done.

Oh, I soooo agree. Like you, I will put aside the horror stories.

I think people should keep an open mind - just because these people go to the papers doesn't mean they're not true. Sometimes they are really in need of money, or a friend has tipped the papers off about them .... it doesn't mean they make it up. Everybody automatically assumes they are lying because a) she went to the papers (but then how else would she get word out if she feels strongly hes not being put across as how he really is) and b) the X-Factors PR handling is so strong, and the show goes to great lengths to create an image for the contestants that the public generally believes what they're told on screen.

C'mon, its real life - if you take a bunch of kids who are lower class/middle class, and have only ever been around the wannabee stages of the showbiz industry you are bound to get a few druggies, a few love cheats, a few with criminal records ... that's what the show is about with the sob stories, they become "reformed" and from "broken homes" and everyones supposed to believe they're the next Madonna.

I think overall, the producers will create a persona for their chosen winner and use means to diminish the ability of others to do well.”

Agreed totally, their images are controlled massively. I really think Rachel has no chance of winning - there's just no way on this earth they would want someone with that past to win it - reformed or not. So i kinda think maybe it might be the X-Factor people now leaking stories about her and putting her across badly. She got them the headlines they needed in the audition stages and upto the live shows but once they start they will want to promote the "chosen winner". I thought it was kinda interesting how badly they put her across on the judges house show - hardly any make-up, didn't sound that great and given a bad song choice .... and then contrast it with Laura who had full make up, sounded professional, given good song choice.

Then again, it may all be true and she might be a complete nightmare, i dunno.

its the usual story we hear every year, that girl from hopeless CeCe did an article aswell sayin there was drugs (hardcore) arguments, rows, contestants sleeping with each other, seriously it aint uncommon.

dont believe this story anyway! why would rachel go back to drugs after being 6 years clean also because it would affect her kids. seems like someones got it in for her.

I'm so angry that they are allowing drug-crazed cannabis-users on the show that I'm having to have a spliff to calm me self down.

There is no way Rachel was/is ever going to win. With her past convictions she'd struggle to get a visa to get into many countries (incl. the USA) and as we keep hearing from the people behind the X-Factor "we want an international superstar".

I can't stand drug users in any form, I'd be happy to see Rachel booted off the show.

Oh my God, it's only cannabis. Anyone who has a serious problem with Rachel because of this needs to get a grip. Something like 50% of the population has, or does, smoke cannabis, it's not a major deal. It's not like she's been shooting smack whilst waiting backstage or something.

You are making the assumption that she is clean when none of us have any proof that she is. She hardly comes accross as the most stable person so its not difficult to imagine her lying about getting clean or falling off the wagon under pressure.

I know that lots of stuff about contestants in the papers is not true but this story about Rachel does also tie in with what the people who live near her said previously. So I, on this occasion, do believe it. I hope she's voted off first or even doesn't even get to the live shows in the light of these revelations.

To be honest, having read that story in the People, the drugs are less of an issue for me than her other behaviour. Unfortunately, I find it too easy to believe that her aggressive behaviour is true given what we know about her past.

As people have said, we know last year's editing showed Rhydian in a bad light and was subsequently shown to be untrue, but I still meet people now who think he's an arrogant tosser based on that early editing. Even if Rachel's done nothing, this kind of mud sticks.

it all works in favour for ruth though doesnt it she will now use this to get the public support and at rachels expense who is head and shoulders above her in singing, she will last longer 'sigh'
