After the torrent of awful jokes last night Bruce Forsyth needs to be replaced

Come now...surely he's worth every penny of the £35,000 he gets for each show.

I think what needs replacing is this tired old topic that seems to attractt vitriol and meanness from a few bitter people.

What, in my humble opinion, doesn't need replacing is the wonderful contribution that Bruce Forsyth continues to make to Strictly Come Dancing and which deserves the respect of us all.

I've defended him every other year but sadly this year I have to agree. His time is up.

Absolutely - we have a new thread on it at least once a week - does nobody search anymore before starting a thread ?

Well it's almost impossible to find anything on here because of all the really annoying appreciation threads cluttering up the two front pages. Can't blame people for starting new ones.

That said, I love Brucie, he's put the time in and has earned the right to be a bit annoying and laboured from time to time. He IS SCD.

That's a little harsh. The topic is related specifically to last night. That "joke" about Jo Brand set the tone and I thought it warranted a new thread. That m'lud is the case for the defendant.

Sorry, but I still like Bruce (and Tess) hosting the show and I don't think he is past his sell by date.

I love Brucie and IMO he doesn't need replacing, for me he makes the show. Long my he continue

Long live Brucie!

I wish people would leave him alone as all the calling for him to go may make him dig his heels in and stay for the sake of it. The right time for Bruce to leave SCD is when Bruce himself wants to pack it in.

He's an institution. At least, I think that's what I mean...

A bit like the Queen. I'm not a fan but I can think of plenty worse people for the job.

So the Queen can stay and so can Bruce IMO.

Like Terry Wogan for example ?

Terry Wogan would definitely be worse.
And so would that awful Nick Knowles.
And all the Dermots that are knocking about.
And Jeremy Vine.

Paxman might be OK?

OMG, please don't knock Jeremy Vine, I think he's a Sex God

Brucie's ad-libs are great, I don't think he's past it. And he's genuine, not fake like a lot of the blonde lovelies we see these days...

Jeremy Vine = sex god... More like, Oh My God!!!!! (Sorry!)

What ad-libs? It's all scripted surely?
Hey, keep Bruce but Tess...?
Does anyone really like Tess?
She was SO wooden on that lottery quiz show. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

Seriously?!! Can you magine him? He'd be worse than Craig! I love Jeremy P but imagine him barking at the dancers and berating them for their lack of effort and telling them to hurry up?

Don't think he has the quite the right temprement for SCD.

I don't mind Tess but it was like she had grown a personality last night!

I would rather have Kate Thornton presenting.

It was sort of a left-field idea. Not wholly serious.
I like G Norton for the role but Brucie ain't so bad.
Tess is really getting on my nerves now though.

There are so many nasty topics like this, it's getting boring now. Bruce has too many fans to leave the show, it wouldn't be the same without him.

I agree Samitza. Strictly wouldn't be what it is without Brucie. I'd hate for him to be replaced .

No, I knew you weren't being entirely serious, thought it was funny tho'!

But yes to Graham N, someone I was going to mention. Now he could do it. And he's already got all the sparkly suits. And was really professional and extremely good on the musical thingy.

There is nobody who can replace Bruce. However even I was annoyed last week when he 'repeated' a joke about Craig and lemons.

You've already got Bruno and Len doing a love-in so the presenter could be a bit more edgy.
Or have a good cop/bad cop pairing. Someone loves them up and tells them coochy-coo as Tess does now and someone is a bit more honest/ genuinely funny.

Totally agree, that was really horrible.

I know Brucie doesn't write is own scripts, but he can't even read them properly now.

I'm not disputing he's a national treasure, but he's just too past it now to keep up the rhythm of the show. It's getting embarrassing.

As for Tess and her Princess Di coy looks through her fringe and posy pouting... Enough! When she said her bit about 'read my blog' last night nearly choked on my tea! Didn't you mean to say 'read the blog posting someone wrote then put my name on'?

New hosts please. I vote Anton and Claudia.

No! not Kate Thornton! As I said in my earlier post I like Tess and Bruce and don't see any reason to change either.

I don't find it embarrassing.

Bruce and Tess are part of the SCD tradition and are clearly still popular with plenty of viewers.

You can't please everybody, but that would be the same even if Bruce or Tess did leave the show.
