You have to feel for whoever dances last...

The last fifteen minutes of SCD clashes with the start of X-factor, and I would say a huge turnover happens at that stage. May even affect the voting. They really should make sure the scheduling of two such popular programmes are kept completely apart time slot wise.

It's just a competition between the two shows, which I think is unfair because the only people who lose are those who want to watch both programmes. I agree, they should have X Factor starting as Strictly finishes.

Not really... the show always has its lowest viewing figures in the first 10 minutes and its highest figures in the final 10. Last night it peaked in the final 5 minutes, according to this:

Brilliant rating for Strictly. It was beaten by the X Factor, but Strictly is well up on last year! ”

I hope Don still gets public support I think it's feasible that he could be in the bottom two again this week- he's not as well known as some contestants, people wouldn't have been expecting a great dance and many will have switched over for the X factor. Plus, a lot of people won't have voted since he was near the top of the leaderboard and didn't appear to 'need' the votes. Hope I'm wrong though because I thought it was a great performance..

The first 15 mins of X Factor is just boring recap anyway. I turned over after Strictly finished and found I had missed nothing . . .

I don't know the figures in detail for last night but generally first or second are much worse than last, in terms of people watching. Also the BBC keep changing the time, increasing the chances of people turning on late. The phone lines open straight after the last dance, meaning it is fresh in people's minds when they pick up the phone. If I was a contestant I'd hate to be second most of all - most likely to be forgotten.

Although I don't have Sky+, many people do. I think the producers usually put a couple they expect to be good last, to stop people switching over.

I agree. I'm always pleased when I learn that a couple I'm supporting is dancing last.

I don't watch X Factor so I had no idea that it clashed with SCD. Like other posters I was surprised by this thread as previously I assumed that dancing last (or near the end) would be an advantage for the couples as they're more fresh in the viewers' memories when the phonelines open. However now I know about X Factor I feel sorry for the last dancers! I guess we must just hope that the true SCD fans will stick with the programme to the end instead of switching across to X Factor.

IMO SCD is at least 400 times better than any other programme on TV at the moment and at least 1 million times better than X Factor.

I remember last year people always used to moan saying it was favouritism because either Matt Di or Alesha were normally last to dance. Now its a bad thing being last?

actually it was gethin always starting first last series. He started first at least 5 times. and Camilla has already started once this series.

Who on earth would want to miss the last 15 minutes of SCD in order to watch the start of ITV's national karaoke championship
