If I compare it to the tricksy move/pose that Kristina and Brian excuted in the rumba - ie. Kristina in splits, then pulled up from the foot, onto one leg standing position - which manged to demonstrate physical strength/ control etc but felt completely in tune with the general flow of the dance.

I really love Vincent and Flavia. They are great talented dancers but for me in some of their more recent choreography it's as if they're trying "just a bit too hard" .

Almost like complexity for the sake of it. Some of the connection to the music is lost imo. Big tricks showcased over a subtlety of movement which was what I loved initially in their dancing. I sometimes feel like Flavia is always bending as far back as she can etc...pushing to the limits whether the move really needs it or not....when sometimes a restraint and a withholding of energy would be more expressive....things starts to look too acrobatic rather than dance.

Hmm...but maybe it's just a taste thing ...as I first started to think this last year when they did their Argentine tango demo.”

Dont get me wrong I loved the dance...

It was just the rolling around on the floor bit which raised my eyebrows... God she is supple to be able to do that back flip thing from sitting position without any "impetus"...

I loved their AT but I know what you mean.

I also loved that move that Brian and Kristina did in the rumba - so much body control it was great...

There is a time and place for modern choreography I was just not sure it was all that necessary in that dance. I loved the balletic holds and would have loved to see the end of the dance finish in one of those.. (thats all).

I absolutely loved the dance. I could watch them dance all day. I liked the tricks and I liked the non-trick parts as well. It was really lovely to see them dancing ballroom with Flavia in a shorter dress - it gave a different impression to be able to see her feet working while they were doing the foxtrot choreography. Also I absolutely loved her lines all the way through it, she has such beautiful lines, very balletic. All in all I thought it was quite lovely!

I'm glad someone else noticed.

I thought exactly the same thing.

It looked to me as if Flavia would rather have been somewhere else.

Aw no don't if she had an off-night (which I suppose is subjective in this case, look at all the differing opinions) all performers have off-nights.

I honestly didn't notice any difference between to normal but I admit don't really look at the faces to be fair. I just thought it was a lovely dance.

I thought it was pretty obvious that neither of them were particularly interested in looking at one another. I think it was only right at the very end that Vincent looked at Flavia's face...

As a show dance it was spectacularly done. So even though they both have new partners, and are moving on in their private life, clearly professionally they can still dance together.

I think the dancer's barre has been raised with Kristina and Brian. They are soo good that the others need to up their game. I think Kristina looks effortless in all her moves and Brian is an excellent dancer. I think that Vincent and Flavia was the best but they now have to move over there are new kids on the block...

I am really looking forward to Brian & Kristina and I think we can expect some exciting choreography from them.

I don't think anyone needs to move over though.

Vincent & Flavia also represent a modern edgy dancing style – in a different way. They too will deliver something to surprise us each time.

I love all of the pros and respect their talent and hard work, but the 2 couples above are the ones I am most looking forward to this year.

Quite. I think the strictly world would have been a poorer place if those two had not been able to move on.

Personally I think that in some ways they are better, now they are not so emotionally entangled.

Yep K and B are good but so are V&F. When there are loads of posts saying they want such and such a partnership to perform... on the results show when the pro rumba was done and only 5 couples took part... I thought it was very pointed that although I realised that Anton and Erin weren't there, I had severe difficulties working out who was missing (Ian and Camilla / Brendan and Hayley)... just goes to show that those 4 are quite forgettable in some ways.

See comment above. I think although the bar has been raised it will be good for the other pairs ....

Although at the time when I heard there was going to be some new people I didnt want the change, I agree the new pair of Brian and Kristina has been good for the show - I just think that 16 pro dancers (8 pairs) is just too many though... when all of them are on the floor I get dizzy. I enjoyed the Rumba with only 5 of them....

I watched the showdance again last night (as you do) and its just spectacular - think Im liking it more now Im getting used to the fact that they end up on the floor just before the end...

I love it as well Annie, and I absolutely agree, I could watch them dance forever. I just find them mesmerizing to watch no matter which dance they're doing.
I struggled to see the foxtrot in it at first, and could only see the Rhumba side of it, but when watching it again, I absolutely agree with what you're saying about the chance to see her fabulous footwork, in a shorter dress...
They just make everything look so effortless, and even in the pro group rhumba, as much as I think all the pro dancers are fabulous at what they do...I kind of didn't see who else was in the routine until I had rewatched it.
