Great film !
The thing is his own steps are not STRICTLY Ballroom and not therefore permitted in
the competitions , it isn't teh doen thing.

Karen used the music for her Paso with Mark Ramprakash .

I remember when that movie came out and then suddenly at australian comps they had all sorts of strictly ballroom inspired costumes! My understanding of the steps was that as amateur competitors, they weren't supposed to be doing their own steps.

When I was watching the australian comps the year the movie came out, the commentator was saying that since the movie, a lot of professional dancers started taking up flamenco and pointed out the top professional aussie couple at the time and commenting that the flamenco steps they were doing were 'definately not strictly federation'.
I thought it was quite funny because she was in a similar dress to the one fran wears and he was wearing a similar jacket to the one scott wears at the end!

Why would you do steps that weren't alowed if you wanted to win a competion ? It's like Brendan and his extra lift X

Which got him a perfect score from one of the judges.
