In the first live show of the series, the final 12 acts take to the stage and sing for your votes. Judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue have handpicked songs for each of their acts to perform, following the theme of UK and US number ones, and are on hand to give their views on each of tonight's performances before the public voting begins. Dermot O'Leary presents.

Good theme. I hope they choose songs that show off their voices and not just ones that are popular with people.

I seen that on the Sky EPG for next week.

Not a theme is it, covers just about every genre there is.

Glad they're having the results show on the same night, was getting worried after the last 2 weeks that they would be copying Come Dancing and string the voting out over 24 hours.

Do you mean Eoghan?

Because I am laughing so much right now at the mental image of Eoghan dancing to Soulja Boy

That's a bit better if it's restricted to songs that have been number 1 in both but I'm not 100% sure they mean that.

I think its better to give them a wide choice for week one, as it gives us an idea about what kind of act they want to be

I thought they mean songs that are Number US OR UK (?) but maybe its both.
La Bamba, Hips Don't Lie, or Genie In a Bottle would suit Ruth

Yes Daniel is bound to be singing that Brian Adams song, what's the betting every week his song will be one that can be aimed directly at his wife to maximise the sob vote.

They've got to give someone 'Tears Dry on Their Own'. If that was a number one. Sure it'll pop up in one week if not this one.
